Mukkoodu Sree Velayudhamangalam Temple, renowned for its Thaipuyam celebrations, is situated in Mukkoodu village, approximately 3.7 miles from Kundara in the Kollam district.
Sri Subramanianswamy is the presiding deity of the Mukkoodu Sri Velayudhamangalam Temple, with Sri Durga Devi and Sri Ganesha bestowing blessings as the sub-deities. This temple is a divine sanctuary where Velayudha Swami, in the form of Chaitanya, showers his all-encompassing grace. The most important special day in the temple is "Thaipuyam," celebrated in the month of Makaram, which marks the birthday of Sri Subrahmanya Swamy. "Mukkoodu Thaipuyam" is one of the major festivals in the village and a vibrant celebration.
On this auspicious day, special pujas, kavadiyattam, pongala, Lakshadeepam, kettukazhcha, and other traditional artistic programs are conducted as per temple rituals. Other significant days in the temple include Painkuni Uthram, Shashti, Trikarthika, and Ayilyam Puja. Each of these days brings devotees closer to the divine, filling their hearts with joy and devotion. It's beautiful to witness such devotion and cultural richness in this sacred space.

കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കുണ്ടറയിൽ നിന്ന് 3.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള മുക്കൂട് ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ തൈപ്പൂയത്തിന് പ്രസിദ്ധമായ മുക്കൂട് ശ്രീ വേലായുധമംഗലം ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ മുഖ്യ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, ചൈതന്യരൂപത്തിൽ അനുഗ്രഹം ചൊരിയുന്ന ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയും ശ്രീ ഗണേശനും ഉപദേവതകളായി ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
