Sree Amruthakulam Shiva Temple Bharanikkavu Madannada Kollam

Maha Shivratri, occurring in Kumbha Masam (February or March), holds significant importance at the Amruthakulam temple. The festival is characterized by various rituals, including abhishekam, dhara, Tantric pujas, and homam. On this occasion, the temple is adorned with lamps and flowers. This temple features a Shivling situated within the vattar sreekovil, which is a circular sanctum sanctorum. Additionally, there is a namaskara mandapam and temples dedicated to upa devathas.

The primary offering made at the temple is the Ghee lamp, also known as neyyu vilakku. Mondays and Saturdays are particularly significant days of the week, while the Pradosham Vratam, observed on the 13th day of a fortnight, is also celebrated here. Other notable periods include Ramayana Masam, Vrischika Masam (Mandala Kalam), and Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam.

വൃത്താകൃതിയിലുള്ള ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ ശിവലിംഗം പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. നമസ്കാര മണ്ഡപവും ഉപദേവതാ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്. നെയ്യ് വിളക്ക്, ധാര, നീരാജനം എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ. തിങ്കളാഴ്‌ചയും ശനിയാഴ്‌ചയും ആഴ്ചയിലെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ദിവസങ്ങളാണ്. പ്രതിപക്ഷം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ശുക്ലപക്ഷത്തിലെ പതിമൂന്നാം ദിവസമായ പ്രദോഷ വ്രതം ഇവിടെയുള്ള ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ആചാരമാണ്. രാമായണമാസം, വൃശ്ചികമാസം (മണ്ഡലകാലം), ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര എന്നിവയും പ്രധാന ആചാരങ്ങളാണ്. കൂടാതെ, കർക്കിടകമാസത്തിലെ ബലിതർപ്പണത്തിന് അനേകം ഭക്തർ എത്തുന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്.
