Palkulangara temple is situated at Kallumthazham along the bypass road. This temple is devoted to Sri Parameswaran and Sri Parvathi.
The temple's principal celebration is the Makairam festival, which occurs during the month of Meenam. This ten-day event commences with kodiyettam and features a variety of vibrant displays, elaborate decorations, processions, musical performances, thalapoli, kettukazcha, and elephant processions, along with numerous artistic presentations. The festival culminates on the tenth day with the Araattu ceremony. Additionally, the temple places significant emphasis on Shivaratri. During Mahashivratri, several special rituals are conducted, including the Ashtadravyamahaganapathi homam, Ilanir Abhishekam, Kashaya Kalasabhishekam, Mahamrityunjayahomam, Umamaheswara pooja, and Rudrabhishekam.
Thiruvathira Pongala is celebrated on Thiruvathira day in the month of Dhanu. This day, dedicated to Sri Mahadev, is marked by beautiful performances of Tiruvathirakali, particularly Swayamvararchana, Sumangali Puja, Niramala, and Bhaktiganasudha. The Thiruvathira Vratham, observed on this day for the purpose of ensuring long-lasting marital bliss, is particularly pleasing to Umamaheshwara. Mahashiv Deepam: Each Sunday, both in the morning and evening, for the purpose of achieving desired outcomes, one should first present a coconut to Lord Ganesha, who alleviates all hindrances. Following this, light the deepam from the shrine, which bestows tranquility, and recite the five-syllable mantra Om Namah Shivaya. Subsequently, perform three circumambulations around the shrine, followed by one circumambulation of the temple, concluding with the offering of the lamp before the Lord. Finally, whisper into the ear of Nandikesan, the revered seated companion.
പാൽക്കുളങ്ങര ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
കിളികൊല്ലൂർ കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിന്റെ സമീപ പ്രദേശമാണ്. ദേശീയപാത 744 വഴി കിളികൊല്ലൂരിലൂടെയാണ് ഗതാഗതം നടക്കുന്നത്. ബൈപാസ്സ് റോഡിൽ കല്ലുംതാഴത്താണ് പ്രശസ്തമായ പാൽകുളങ്ങര ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. കല്ലുംതാഴത്തുനിന്നും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ദൂരം നടന്നു എത്താൻ സാധിക്കും. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരനും പർവ്വതിദേവിക്കുമാണ് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. പാൽകുളങ്ങര ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വിശേഷദിവസം മീനമാസത്തിലെ മകയിരം മഹോത്സവമാണ്.
പത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവം കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച്, വർണ്ണാഭമായ കാഴ്ചകളും അലങ്കാരങ്ങളും, എഴുന്നള്ളത്തും, വാദ്യമേളങ്ങളും, താലപ്പൊലിയും കെട്ടുകാഴ്ചകളും, ആനയെഴന്നള്ളിപ്പും വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികളുമെല്ലാം കഴിഞ്ഞ് തിരു ആറാട്ടോടെ കൊടിയിറങ്ങുന്നു. ശിവരാത്രിക്ക് വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. രാജസതാമസ ഗുണങ്ങൾ നിയന്ത്രിച്ച് ഉള്ളിൽ സാത്ത്വികത വളർത്തുന്നതാണ് ശിവരാത്രിവ്രതം. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ ശിവരാത്രി ഭക്തിയോടെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. മഹാശിവരാത്രിയോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് അഷ്ടദ്രവ്യമഹാഗണപതിഹോമം, ഇളനീർ അഭിഷേകം, കഷായ കലശാഭിഷേകം, മഹാമൃത്യുഞ്ജയഹോമം, ഉമാമഹേശ്വരപൂജ, രുദ്രാഭിഷേകം തുടങ്ങിയ വഴിപാടുകൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേകമായി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര ദിനം തിരുവാതിര പൊങ്കാല ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ശ്രീമഹാദേവന്റെ തിരുനാൾ ദിനമായ ഈ ദിവസം, തിരുവാതിരകളി, സ്വയംവരാർച്ചന, സുമംഗലി പൂജ, നിറമാല, ഭക്തിഗാനസുധ എന്നിവയോടുകൂടി വളരെ ഭംഗിയായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
ദീർഘമാംഗല്യത്തിനായി ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര ദിനത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന തിരുവാതിര വ്രതം ഉമാമഹേശ്വരനെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതാണ്. ദാമ്പത്തിക സമൃദ്ധിയും ശ്രീപരമേശ്വരന്റെ ആയുരാരോഗ്യവും ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനായി ശ്രീ പാർവ്വതിദേവി ഈ വ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചുവെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. സുമംഗലികൾ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ സൗഖ്യത്തിനും കന്യകമാർ സദ്ഭർത്യ പ്രാപ്തിക്കായി ഈ വ്രതം നടത്തുന്നു. മഹാശിവദീപം: ഉദ്ദിഷ്ട കാര്യസിദ്ധിക്കായി എല്ലാ ഞായറാഴ്ചകളിലും രാവിലെയും വൈകീട്ടും സർവ്വവിഘ്നങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും മുക്തി നൽകുന്ന ഗണപതി ഭഗവാനെ നാളീകേരം സമർപ്പിച്ച ശേഷം, ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ നിന്നും മേൽശാന്തി തെളിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ദീപം പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഓം നമഃ ശിവായ എന്ന പഞ്ചാക്ഷരി മന്ത്രം ഉച്ചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, ശ്രീകോവിലിന് മൂന്ന് പ്രദക്ഷിണങ്ങൾ നടത്തുകയും, തുടർന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് ഒരു പ്രദക്ഷിണം വച്ച് ഭഗവാന്റെ മുന്നിൽ വിളക്ക് സമർപ്പിച്ചശേഷം, ഉദ്ദിഷ്ട കാര്യത്തിന് ഭഗവാനു മുന്നിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന സന്തതസഹചാരിയായ നന്ദികേശന്റെ കാതിൽ മന്ത്രിക്കുക.
