Paravur Ezhiyathu Sree Durga Temple is situated in Paravur, within the Kollam district of Kerala. This temple is devoted to the worship of Goddess Durga.
The shrine is renowned for its Sarpa Kavu, also known as Nagar Kavu, which is dedicated to serpent worship. The annual Ayilyam festival takes place during Kumbha Masam, which corresponds to February and March. Ayilya Pujas hold significant importance for the Naga Gods, with the primary observance occurring in the months of Kanni and Thulam. A particularly notable day for Naga temples is Ailyam in the month of Kanni.
It is widely believed that conducting Naga Pujas on this day, referred to as Kanni Ayilyam, will appease the Naga Gods, and these rituals and prayers are thought to assist in alleviating Sarpa Dosha. This temple is of considerable antiquity and features several small sreekovils, all of which are square in design. Within the temple, a few upa devatas are venerated. The shrine conducts significant pujas and rituals during the Ayilyam nakshatra in the Malayalam calendar months. An important occasion is the Trikartika lamp ceremony dedicated to Goddess Shri Durga at Ezhiyathu Temple.
പരവൂർ എഴിയത്ത് ശ്രീ ദുർഗ ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പരവൂരിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പരവൂർ ഏഴിയത്തു ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാ ക്ഷേത്രം ദുർഗ്ഗാ ദേവിക്കായി സമർപ്പിച്ച ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സർപ്പാരാധനയ്ക്കായി പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. നാഗദൈവങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രധാനമായ ആയില്യ പൂജകൾ ഇവിടെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. കന്നി, തുലാം എന്നീ മാസങ്ങളിലെ ആയില്യ പൂജകൾ അതിൽ പ്രധാനമാണ്. കന്നി മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം, നാഗ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്.
കന്നി ആയില്യം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ദിവസം നാഗപൂജകൾ നടത്തുന്നത് നാഗദൈവങ്ങളെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും സർപ്പദോഷങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലാതാക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. വാർഷിക ആയില്യം ഉത്സവം കുംഭ മാസത്തിൽ (ഫെബ്രുവരി - മാർച്ച്) നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം വളരെ പുരാതനമായ ചെറിയ ശ്രീകോവിലകളോടുകൂടിയതാണ്. എല്ലാ ശ്രീകോവിലുകളും ചതുരാകൃതിയിലാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ സർപ്പക്കാവിനും, നഗർകാവിനും പുറമെ ഉപദേവതകളെയും ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. മലയാള മാസങ്ങളിലെ ആയില്യം നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. എഴിയത്ത് ശ്രീ ദുർഗ ദേവിയുടെ തൃകാർത്തിക വിളക്ക് പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട വിശേഷദിവസമാണ്, അന്ധകാരം അക്കറ്റി മനസ്സിൽ പ്രകാശം പകരുന്ന സുദിനമാണ്.
