Paravur Kunnath Sri Krishna Temple is situated in Paravur along the Pozhikkara – Paravur road within the Kollam district of Kerala. The principal deity revered at this temple is Bhagavan Sri Krishna.
The temple observes its annual festival on the day of Rohini nakshatra in Kumbha Masam. Unlike typical shrines, the main sanctum here is uniquely hexagonal in shape, while the salutation area in front of it is quadrangular. The temple stands out with only the sreekovil (sanctum) and a large-pillared, high-roof structure, without additional main structures.
The annual festival is particularly notable for Vaishnava pujas and rituals, along with performances of Kerala temple art forms, a grand procession, and melam (traditional temple orchestra).
The temple also has Upa Devatas (sub-deities), including Nagas, worshipped within its premises. Another significant festival celebrated here is Ashtami Rohini, or Gokulashtami, in the month of Chingam, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna.
പരവൂർ കുന്നത്ത് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പൊഴിക്കര-പരവൂരിലാണ് പരവൂർ കുന്നത്ത് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഭഗവാൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനാണ്. കുംഭ മാസത്തിലെ രോഹിണി നക്ഷത്ര ദിനത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം വിപുലമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു. സാധാരണ ശ്രീകോവിലുകളിൽ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ശ്രീകോവിൽ ഷഡ്‌ഭുജാകൃതിയിലാണ് നിർമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ശ്രീകോവിലിന് മുൻപിലെ നമസ്കാര മണ്ഡപം ചതുർഭുജാകൃതിയിലാണ്.
ശ്രീകോവിലിനൊപ്പം ഒരു വലിയ തൂണുകളുള്ള ഉയർന്ന ആനക്കൊട്ടിയാണുള്ളത്; മറ്റ് പ്രധാന നിർമ്മിതികൾ ഇവിടെ ഇല്ല. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം വൈഷ്ണവ പൂജകൾക്കും ആചാരങ്ങൾക്കും, കേരളത്തിലെ ക്ഷേത്രകലാരൂപങ്ങൾക്കും, ഘോഷയാത്രകൾക്കും, മേളത്തിനും പ്രത്യേക ശ്രദ്ധ നേടുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകളിൽ നാഗദേവതകൾക്ക് പ്രത്യേക സ്ഥാനം ഉണ്ട്. നാഗദേവതകൾക്ക് ഉള്ള പ്രധാന പൂജയായ ആയില്യ പൂജ വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളതാണ്.
പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കന്നി, തുലാം മാസങ്ങളിലെ ആയില്യ നാളുകളിൽ പാടിഞ്ഞൊരുക്കുന്ന പൂജകൾ വിശേഷാൽ പ്രസക്തമാണ്. ഈ നാഗപൂജകൾ നിർവഹിക്കുന്നത് നാഗദോഷം അടക്കമുള്ള ദോഷങ്ങളെ ഇല്ലാതാക്കും എന്ന വിശ്വാസം ജനങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിലെ അഷ്ടമി രോഹിണി (ഗോകുലാഷ്ടമി) ആണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റൊരു പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം, ഇത് ഭഗവാൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ ജന്മനാളായി ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
