കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പത്തനാപുരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 3.1 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പിടവൂർ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ഐതിഹ്യവും വിശേഷങ്ങളുമുള്ള പിടവൂർ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. കിഴക്കൻ ഗുരുവായൂർ എന്ന പേരിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവിടെ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ ശക്തിവിശേഷങ്ങൾക്കായി ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ വലിയ വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. ദേവവൈദ്യനായ ധന്വന്തരി ഭാവത്തിൽ ഇവിടെ കാണുന്ന ദേവൻ സർവ്വരോഗശമന ദായകനാണ്. തിരുകിണറ്റിലെ ജലം പൂജിച്ച് 21 ദിവസം ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം സേവിച്ചാൽ ഏത് മാറാരോഗങ്ങൾക്കും ഉത്തമ ഔഷധമായി മാറും. വിവാഹ തടസ്സങ്ങൾ നീക്കാൻ 7 ദിവസം ഭഗവാനെ തുളസിയില സമർപ്പിച്ചാൽ മതിയാകും.
സന്താനഭാഗ്യം നേടാൻ 12 വ്യാഴാഴ്ചകളിൽ വ്രതം നോക്കി പാൽപ്പായസം ഭഗവാനെ സമർപ്പിച്ച് തുളസിമാല സമർപ്പിച്ചാൽ ഫലസിദ്ധി ലഭിക്കും. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹ ദർശനത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അനന്തനും പറയാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. അഭയവരദനായ ഭഗവാൻറെ പാദാരവിന്ദങ്ങളിൽ സകലവും സമർപ്പിച്ചാൽ സർവ്വൈശ്വര്യങ്ങൾ കൈവരുത്തും. ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവം മീനം രോഹിണി തിരുനാൾ എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ഉത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് ദശാവതാര ചാർത്തുകൾ കാണാൻ നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അനേകം ഭക്തർ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു ആകർഷണമാണ് വർണ്ണാഭമായ മലക്കുട കെട്ടുകാഴ്ചയും, മലവഴിപാടായ പന്തനാഴിയും.
കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമിക്ക് പാൽപായസ പൊങ്കാല സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാ വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങളും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഓരോ വർഷവും ഭാഗവത സപ്താഹം ഭക്തിപൂർവം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. ചിങ്ങത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം, വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി, കന്നിയിലെ പൂജവയ്പ്പ്, വിദ്യാരംഭം, തുലാമാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യംപൂജ, വൃശ്ചികം മുതൽ മണ്ഡലകാലം, കർക്കിടക മാസത്തിൽ രാമായണമാസം, വൈശാഖമാസത്തിൽ നരസിംഹ ജയന്തി, ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിൽ അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, മേടമാസത്തിൽ വിഷു, പത്താമുദയം, മകരസംക്രാന്തി എന്നിവയോടൊപ്പം എല്ലാ മാസങ്ങളിലും രോഹിണി ഊട്ട്, ഏകാദശി എന്നിവയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വിശേഷ ദിവസങ്ങൾ. വർഷത്തിൽ 9 മാസവും ഇവിടെ ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ നടക്കുന്നു.
