Poovattoor Sree Bhagavathy Temple Poovattoor Kollam

Poovattoor is best known for its ancient Bhagavathy temple, the Poovattoor Devi Temple, which is considered the sister temple of Pattazhy Devi Temple and Mannadi Devi Temple. The village is situated along the banks of the Kallada River. The annual festival at Poovattoor Devi Temple is one of the biggest temple festivals in the Kulakkada Panchayath. It is renowned for its Kettukazcha, Kambam (fireworks), and Ezhunnallathu, which is a procession featuring small structures made from plantain kernels and germinating coconut leaves, adorned with numerous lamps. The main offering at Poovattoor Sri Bhagavathy Temple, performed by devotees to seek the blessings of Goddess Bhadrakali, is the Thottampattu. In August 2023, the Thottampattu offering was observed for 8 days. Other rituals and offerings, including Ezhunnallathu, Thalapoli, and Annadanam, were also held in connection with the Thottampattu celebration.

പൂവറ്റൂർ ശ്രീ ഭഗവതീ ക്ഷേത്രം

പ്രസിദ്ധമായ പൂവറ്റൂർ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ വടക്കൻ ഭാഗത്തായി കൊട്ടാരക്കര താലൂക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. കൊട്ടാരക്കരയിൽ നിന്ന് 9.7 കിലോമീറ്ററും, പൂവറ്റൂർ നിന്ന് 500 മീറ്ററും ദൂരം മാത്രമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. പൂവറ്റൂരിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ആരാധനാലയം പുരാതനമായ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര നാളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പൂവറ്റൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉത്സവം, കുളക്കട പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

ഈ ഉത്സവം പ്രശസ്തമാണ് കെട്ടുകാഴ്ച, വെടിക്കെട്ട് (കമ്പം), എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത് എന്നിവയ്ക്കായി. വാഴക്കുലകളും തെങ്ങിൻ കുരുത്തോലകളും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് അലങ്കരിച്ച രഥം കൊണ്ടുള്ള എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത് ഉത്സവത്തിലെ മുഖ്യ ആകർഷണമാണ്. ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം നേടുന്നതിനായി ഭക്തർ പൂവറ്റൂർ ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തുന്ന പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ് തോറ്റംപാട്ട്. തോറ്റംപാട്ടിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, താലപ്പൊലി, അന്നദാനം എന്നിവയും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നടക്കുന്ന പൊങ്കാലയും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രത്യേക ആകർഷണങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്.
