Pulimukam Temple is a Hindu place of worship situated in the Thazhava area of the Kollam district in Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Bhadra Bhagavathi, who is revered as the main deity.
Bhadra Bhagavathy is the main deity of the Pulimughath Temple, a revered sanctuary located in the village of Thahava. This temple, dedicated to Sribhadra Bhagwati, radiates divine grace and is beloved by thousands of devotees who come to seek her blessings for kindness, prosperity, and generosity. The temple is situated within a spacious compound, with a serene lotus pond in front of it. The reflection of the temple in this pond is a captivating sight that adds to the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.
The temple is also home to several important upadevathas (sub-deities), including Yakshi, Lord Ganesha, Nagaraja, Naga Yakshi, and Rekshas. Additionally, the sacred Kavu (a small forest patch housing serpent gods), along with the Karimbana and Ezhilam Pala trees, are worshiped with the belief that they are the dwelling places of Gandharvas (celestial beings) and Yakshis (spirits).
The festive season at Pulimughath Temple is marked by the annual Parayeduppu, a tradition observed in many temples of the Onattukara region.
This ritual begins when the deity is taken out in a grand procession. The central aspect of the Parayeduppu is the Jeevatha, a palanquin-like structure designed in the shape of the temple, made with meticulous attention to the Thachusaasthra (traditional temple architecture). The front part of the Jeevatha resembles a Thidambu (ceremonial headgear), followed by a chest-like compartment that holds the deity’s holy attire, intricately decorated with golden embellishments. The procession visits the homes of devotees over a period of three days.
The rhythmic beats during the Jeevatha Ezunnallathu (procession) are another unique aspect of the celebration. Starting with slow, deliberate beats, the rhythm intensifies, culminating in fast-paced drumming. The main festival celebrated at Pulimughath Temple is the Meena Bharani, which occurs during the Malayalam month of Meenam (March or April), on the day of the Bharani star. This festival features highlights such as Kuthiyottam, Kettukazhcha, KhoshaYatra, and Pongala. Other special days at the temple include Navaratri, Vidyarambham, Mandalakalam, Thiruvathira in the month of Dhanu, Bhagavatha Sapthaham, Ramayana month, and Makam Thozhal.

കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കരുനാഗപ്പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 5 കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കായി ദേശീയ പാതയിലൂടെ എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്ന തഴവ ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് പുലിമുഖത്ത് ശ്രീ ഭദ്രാഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഭദ്രാഭഗവതിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. തഴവ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന, ദയയും, ഉദാരമതിയും, ഐശ്വര്യവും നൽകുന്ന, ഉജ്ജ്വലമായ ദിവ്യസാന്നിധ്യമായി തിളങ്ങുകയും വിരാജിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പുണ്യ സങ്കേതമാണ്‌ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. ശ്രീ ഭദ്രാഭഗവതി ഈ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ഭക്തരുടെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ദേവിയാണ്, ആരായും ഭക്തിയിൽ അഭയം തേടിയാൽ അഭീഷ്ടം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവളായാണ്‌ അവർ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.
