Puthiyakavu Bhadrakali Temple is located in Chavara, Kottakkam, just 4.7 km from Munrothuruth railway station.
This temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali and is one of the prominent Bhadrakali temples in the region. There are many temples across Kerala named 'Puthiyakavu,' dedicated to goddesses, and among those in Kollam district, the 'Sri Puthiyakavu Bhagavathy Temple' opposite Kollam Railway Station and the 'Puthiyakavu Bhadrakali Temple' in Chavara are particularly well-known.
Every year, the temple hosts a seven-day festival that attracts thousands of female devotees. The third and fourth days of this festival are especially significant for unmarried women, who gather at the temple to offer thalams. The festival concludes with a grand procession and a spectacular fireworks display, marking the finale of the celebrations.

മൺറോതുരുത്ത് റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ നിന്ന് 4.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ ചവറയിലെ കോട്ടക്കക്കത്താണ് പുരാതനമായ 'പുതിയകാവ് ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം' സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിക്കായി സമർപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്. 'പുതിയകാവ്' എന്ന നാമത്തിൽ കേരളത്തിലെ എല്ലാ ജില്ലകളിലും ധാരാളം ദേവീക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. അവയിൽ, കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളായ ചവറയിലെ പുതിയകാവ് ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രവും കൊല്ലം റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനിന് എതിർവശത്തുള്ള ശ്രീ പുതിയകാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രവും ശ്രദ്ധേയങ്ങളാണ്.
