Asramam Sree Muneeswaran Kovil is situated within the ashram grounds neighboring Kollam town. It is dedicated to Sri Parameswara, the esteemed sage who remains in a state of meditation.
Sri Muneeswara Swamy Temple is a beautifully maintained temple, renowned for its serene environment and vibrant spiritual ambiance. The walls surrounding the temple are adorned with exquisite mural paintings of various deities, adding to the temple’s artistic beauty. Muneeswaran is a revered village deity, traditionally worshiped as the guardian of villages and villagers.
Unique to Muneeswaran's worship is the fact that it doesn't necessarily involve an idol. Instead, devotees often invoke the deity on a pedestal, which may be made of stone or wood. Objects like a sword, spike, mace, knife, garland, or Dandu (staff) are placed on or near the pedestal, symbolizing the deity’s presence and protection. It is believed that praying even once in the sacred space dedicated to Lord Mahamuni will invoke his spirit, which will remain with the devotee for a lifetime.
This spiritual connection is said to nourish and strengthen the faith of devotees as they journey through the temple's rich legends and traditions. The temple hosts a grand five-day festival in the month of Meenam, which is the highlight of the year. Other significant events celebrated at the temple include Vinayaka Chaturthi, Ramayana Masacharan, Mandalachirap Mahotsavam, and Mahashivaratri Mahotsavam. These festivals draw devotees in large numbers, filling the temple with devotion and celebration.
ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം ആശ്രാമം
ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം പട്ടണത്തിലെ ആശ്രാമത്തിന് സമീപം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ധ്യാനാവസ്ഥയിലുള്ള മഹാമുനി ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരനാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇഷ്ടാഭിഷ്ടവരദായകനും ശക്തിസ്വരൂപനുമായ ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരന്റെ ചൈതന്യവും തൃക്കടാക്ഷവും കൊണ്ട് ആശ്രാമം അനുഗ്രഹീതമാണ്.
ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവം പരിപാലിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം. ചുറ്റമ്പലത്തിന്റെ ചുവർ മനോഹരമായ ദേവീ ദേവന്മാരുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് അലങ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
കൊല്ലം പൂരത്തിന്‍റെ ഒരുഭാഗമാണ് ആശ്രാമം ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം. വിഷു ഉത്സവത്തിന്‍റെ അവസാന ദിനമാണ് പ്രശസ്തമായ കൊല്ലം പൂരം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്. പൂരം നടക്കുന്ന ദിവസം രാവിലെ, കോയിക്കൽ ശ്രീകണ്ഠൻ ക്ഷേത്രം, ഉളിയക്കോവിൽ ദുർഗാദേവി, ഉളിയക്കോവിൽ കണ്ണമത്ത് ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം, ശ്രീനാരായണപുരം സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ ക്ഷേത്രം, കടപ്പാക്കട ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം, ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം, തുമ്പറ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം, ഇരട്ടക്കുളങ്ങര മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം, ശങ്കരകുമാരപുരം സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ ക്ഷേത്രം, ആശ്രാമം മാരിയമ്മൻ ക്ഷേത്രം, പടിഞ്ഞാറെ പുതുപ്പള്ളി മാടസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം, ആശ്രാമം കേളേത്തുകാവ് നാഗരാജ ക്ഷേത്രം
ചേക്കോട്ട് കളരിയിൽ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ദേവീദേവൻമാർ ഗജവീരന്മാരുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ, വാദ്യമേളങ്ങളുടെയും ഒത്തു ചേർന്ന ചെറുപൂരങ്ങളായി ആശ്രാമം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നതോടെ കൊട്ടിക്കലാശം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന കൊല്ലം പൂരം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ അഞ്ചുദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവം മീനമാസത്തിലാണ് ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്. വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി, രാമായണമാസാചരണം, മണ്ഡലചിറപ്പ് മഹോത്സവം, മഹാശിവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവം എന്നിവയാണ് ശ്രീ മുനീശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റ് പ്രധാന വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങൾ.
