Sree Mahadeva Temple Thamarakkudy Kottarakkara Kollam

Thamarakudy Sri Mahadeva Temple stands as one of the prominent Mahadeva temples in southern Kerala, rich in rituals and the fullness of worship practices. This sacred site, over a century old, is dedicated to Lord Sri Mahadev. It serves as a spiritual haven where devotees can feel the divine presence of Karunamurthi Sri Mahadev, who grants prosperity to children, devotees, and the land, as well as bestowing long life and salvation. All special days and the Bhagavata Saptaham are observed at the temple with great devotion. The main special event is the Shivratri Mahotsav, celebrated in the month of Kumbham.

The temple is managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, and the Thiru Utsavam also takes place during Kumbham. This festival is organized by the local community and the temple committee. During the festival, the temple is beautifully adorned with garlands, tender coconut leaves, flowers, and traditional lamps. Various traditional art forms, music, and dance performances enhance the celebrations. Caparisoned elephants, colorful ezhunnallippu processions, fireworks, Ulsavabali, religious and cultural programs, and discourses contribute to the grandeur of the event. On the final day, the utsava idol of the deity is ceremoniously taken out of the shrine, and the festival concludes with the Aarattu, marking the end of the celebrations.

താമരക്കുടി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം

കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കൊട്ടാരക്കര താലൂക്കിലെ താമരക്കുടി ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന താമരക്കുടി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. വെട്ടിക്കവലയിൽ നിന്ന് 6 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. മഹാദേവനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നതിനായി സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, ആചാരങ്ങളുടെ സമൃദ്ധിയും പൂജാവിധികളുടെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണതയുമുള്ള തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രധാന മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. എല്ലാ വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങളിലും, വർഷംതോറും ഭാഗവത സപ്താഹയജ്ഞം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാനമായ വിശേഷദിവസം കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ ശിവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവമാണ്.

ക്ഷേത്രം തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലാണ്. കുംഭ മാസത്തിൽ തിരു ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. പ്രദേശവാസികളും, ക്ഷേത്രക്കമ്മറ്റിയും ചേർന്ന് ഉത്സവം നടത്തുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് പരമ്പരാഗത കലാരൂപങ്ങൾ, സംഗീതം, നൃത്തം എന്നിവ അരങ്ങേറുന്നു. നെറ്റിപ്പട്ടം കെട്ടിയ ഗജവീരന്മാർ, വർണ്ണപ്പകിട്ടുള്ള എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ്, കെട്ടുകഴ്ചകൾ, മേളം, കരിമരുന്ന് പ്രയോഗം, ഉത്സവബലി, മതപരവും, സാംസ്‌കാരികവുമായ പരിപാടികൾ, പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയിലൂടെ ഉത്സവം ഗംഭീരമാക്കുന്നു. അവസാന ദിവസം ദേവന്റെ ഉത്സവ മൂർത്തി ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തെടുത്ത് ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടി ഉത്സവം കൊടിയിറങ്ങുന്നു.
