Thirumullavaram Maha Vishnu Temple is situated along the coastline of Tirumullavaram in the Kollam district. This temple is recognized as one of the renowned 108 temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Tirumullavaram Temple is recognized as one of the prominent 108 temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to legend, the original structure was submerged in the sea during ancient times, and the current temple was constructed later. The principal deities of worship are Lord Mahavishnu and Lord Paramashiva, representing two facets of Parabrahmam, with a greater emphasis placed on Lord Vishnu.
The idol of Lord Vishnu is positioned in the East, while Lord Shiva is situated in the West. The sanctum housing the Vishnu idol is designed as a circular shrine. Daily rituals include three pujas. This temple falls under the administration of the Travancore Devaswam. It is widely believed that during the Kulasekhara dynasty, a king who ruled from Kollam as his capital worshipped Lord Vishnu at this site. Notably, the water in both the temple pool and the well is devoid of salt, despite the temple's proximity to the sea. It is also thought that sacrifices made here can lead to the salvation of departed souls. Lord Vishnu is revered in this temple as the "Supreme" savior, and Tilahoma is considered his preferred offering.
Pithrupooja and Thilahoma: This temple is renowned for its Pithrupooja and Thilahoma rituals. The underlying belief is that by engaging in these ceremonies, individuals can facilitate moksha for their ancestors and alleviate pithru dosha. During the Karkitakavu Balitharppanam, which occurs in the month of Karkitakam, numerous devotees gather at the beach to perform sacrifices in honor of their departed relatives and to conduct tilahoma. In addition to Sri Parvati, the temple is home to other deities, including Lord Ganapati, Dharmashasta, Sri Murugan, Bhuvaneshwari, and Rakshas, all of whom are venerated within the Mahadev shrine. The festivities commence on Atham day in the month of Pisces and culminate with the Aarat on Thiruvonam, the celebration dedicated to Lord Vishnu. A vibrant "Kadalpooram" ceremony is also held in conjunction with these events.

തിരുമുല്ലവാരം മഹാവിഷ്ണുക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ തിരുമുല്ലവാരം കടലോരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് അഞ്ചു കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. 108 മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഒന്നാണ് ഇത്. പ്രാചീന കാലത്ത് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മൂലക്ഷേത്രം കടലിൽ താഴ്ന്നതായി പറയപ്പെടുന്നു, ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രം പിന്നീട് പുനർനിർമ്മിച്ചതാണ്. പരബ്രഹ്മത്തിന്റെ രണ്ട് മുഖങ്ങൾ, ഭഗവാൻ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവും പരമശിവനുമാണ് പ്രധാന ആരാധനാ മൂർത്തികൾ. എന്നാൽ, മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന് കൂടുതൽ പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. കിഴക്കായി മഹാവിഷ്ണുവും പടിഞ്ഞാറായി പരമശിവനും ദർശനമുണ്ട്. വിഷ്ണുവിഗ്രഹം പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശ്രീകോവിൽ വട്ടത്തിൽ പണിതിരിക്കുന്നു. ദിവസത്തിൽ മൂന്ന് പൂജകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വത്തിന്റെ മേൽക്കോയ്മയിലുള്ളതാണ്. ഇവിടെ ബലിയിട്ടാൽ പരേതാത്മാക്കൾക്ക് മോക്ഷം ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനെ മോക്ഷദായകനായ "പരമാത്മാവ്" എന്ന നിലയിൽ സങ്കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഭഗവാന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവഴിപാട് തിലഹോമയാണ്. പിതൃപൂജയും തിലഹോമവും: ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പിതൃപൂജയും തിലഹോമവും നടത്തുന്നതിനായി പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞ പൂജകൾ നടത്തുന്നത് വഴി പിതൃക്കൾക്ക് മോക്ഷം ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന്, കൂടാതെ പിതൃദോഷം പരിഹരിക്കപ്പെടുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. കർക്കിടകമാസത്തിലെ കറുത്തവാവുദിവസത്തിൽ, നിരവധി ഭക്തർ കടൽത്തീരത്ത് മരിച്ച ബന്ധുക്കൾക്കായി ബലിതർപ്പണം നടത്താനും തിലഹോമം നടത്താനും എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു. മഹാദേവന്റെ ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ ശ്രീ പാർവ്വതീദേവി, ഗണപതിഭഗവാൻ, ധർമ്മശാസ്താവ്, ശ്രീമുരുകൻ എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം മറ്റ് ദേവതകളായ ഭുവനേശ്വരിദേവിയും രക്ഷസ്സും സന്നിധിയിലുണ്ട്. മീനമാസത്തിലെ അത്തംനാളിൽ കൊടിയേറി മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ തിരുനാളായ തിരുവോണത്തിന് ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടി സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ഇതോടൊപ്പം വർണ്ണാഭമായ "കടൽപൂരവും" നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
