Thrikoikkal Sri Maha Narasimhaswamy Temple is situated in Yerur, approximately 6.2 kilometers from Anchal in the Kollam district.
The principal deity of this temple is Lord Narasimhamoorthy. It is regarded as one of the unique temples dedicated to Narasimha Moorthy in Kerala, where the deity is oriented towards the west. The Narasimha avatar is the most significant among the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. As indicated by its name, this incarnation features the face of a lion combined with the body of a human. Narasimha is recognized as the final incarnation of the Lord during the Krita Yuga.
Despite being a formidable figure who emerged to vanquish adversaries, Narasimha Murthy is known for his swift grace among devotees. The barriers to a successful career and marriage will be alleviated alongside the attainment of Abhishtasiddhi if one lights a ghee lamp and offers prayers at the temples dedicated to Narasimhamurthy with a pure heart and sincere devotion. Additionally, the dedication of a Tulasimala is a significant offering. The Ishtapuspam is represented by the red chethi, and the nivedya consists of Payasam. It is believed that by praying to the deity on Chothinakshatra, the day associated with Vayu deva in the Panchabhutas, individuals can overcome dangers, eliminate debts, and ensure prosperity within the family. അഞ്ചലിൽ നിന്നും 6.2 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള ഏരൂരിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന തൃക്കോയിക്കൽ ശ്രീ മഹാ നരസിംഹസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം, നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോടെയാണ് പ്രശസ്തമായത്. കേരളത്തിലെ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ അപൂർവ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദർശനമായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ ദശാവതാരങ്ങളിൽ നരസിംഹാവതാരം ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. ഈ അവതാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത സിംഹത്തിന്റെ മുഖവും മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശരീരവും ആണ്.
കൃതായുഗത്തിലെ ഭഗവാന്റെ നാല് അവതാരങ്ങളിൽ നരസിംഹാവതാരം അവസാനത്തെ അവതാരമാണ്. നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ മനഃശുദ്ധിയോടെയും ഭക്തിയോടെ നെയ്‌വിളക്ക് കത്തിച്ച് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ അഭിഷ്ടസിദ്ധി ലഭിക്കുകയും തൊഴിൽ, വിവാഹ തടസ്സങ്ങൾ നീങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും. തുളസിമാല സമർപ്പണം മറ്റൊരു പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ്. ഇഷ്‌ടപുഷ്‌പം ചുവന്ന ചെത്തിയും, നിവേദ്യം പായസവുമാണ്. പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങളിൽ വായുദേവന്റെ നാളായ ചോതിനക്ഷത്ര ദിനത്തിൽ ഭഗവാനെ പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ ആപത്തുകളിൽ നിന്ന് രക്ഷ നേടാം. കൂടാതെ, കടബാധ്യതകൾ നീക്കി കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഐശ്വര്യം നിലനിൽക്കാൻ, പതിവായി ചോതിനക്ഷത്ര ദിനത്തിൽ നരസിംഹ ക്ഷേത്ര ദർശനം നടത്തി നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയെ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നത് മതിയെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
