Thumpara Devi Temple is one of the renowned Devi temples in Kollam city. Situated around 1.7 km west of the SN College Junction in Mundakkal village, this temple holds significant spiritual and cultural importance for devotees in the region.
The deity, represented as a youthful Devi, is venerated within the temple. Both Durga and Bhagavathy (Thumbara Amma) receive equal reverence in this sacred space. The annual ten-day festival of Thumpara Sri Mahadevi Temple, known as Makayiram Mahotsavam, takes place in the month of Kumbham.
The festivities commence with Trikkodiettu and conclude with Trikkodiyirakkam following the Aarattu, which is succeeded by Aarattezhunnallathu.
Significant emphasis is placed on the temple's rituals and ceremonial poojas. The festival is marked by elaborate celebrations, including special pujas such as Nurum-palum, Kalashapuja, and Kalabhabhishekam, alongside artistic performances that adhere to temple traditions, as well as Deepalankaram, Annadanam, and Ezhunnallatthu.

തുമ്പറ ശ്രീ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. കൊല്ലത്തെ മുണ്ടക്കൽ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ എസ്എൻ കോളേജ് ജംഗ്ഷനോട് ചേർന്നുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 1.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് മാറിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ബാലികാ രൂപത്തിലുള്ള ദേവിയെയാണ് ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്.
ഇപ്പോൾ ദുർഗ്ഗയെയും ഭഗവതിയെയും (തുമ്പറ അമ്മ) സമാന പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. തുമ്പറ ശ്രീ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വാർഷികോത്സവം കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മകയിരം നാളിൽ മകയിര മഹോത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം, ആറാട്ടെഴുന്നള്ളത്തിനെ തുടർന്ന് ആറാട്ടിന് ശേഷം തൃക്കൊടി ഇറക്കത്തോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. നൂറുംപാലും, കലശപൂജ, കളഭാഭിഷേകം തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും, ക്ഷേത്ര ആചാരങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുസൃതമായ കലാപരിപാടികളും, ദീപാലങ്കാരവും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
