Vallikkeezhu Sribhadra Bhagavathy Temple is a historic and ancient site situated just one kilometer from Kavanad in the Kollam district.
This temple is devoted to Goddess Sribhadrakali. In this sacred space, Sribhadrakali is portrayed as benevolent, a guardian who alleviates fear, a source of strength to endure hardships, a supporter in times of trouble, a bestower of wealth and prosperity, a vanquisher of malevolence, a facilitator of success in life, a provider of salvation, a manifestation of compassion, and a dispenser of maternal affection. The annual celebration of Shakti Swarupini Vallikeesh Sri Bhagwati is referred to as Meenabharani Mahotsavam.
This six-day event commences with Trikudiyettu and concludes with Thiru Aarattu following Palliveta. In honor of the festival, Pongala is prepared on the day preceding Trikodiyettu, while Kuthiyottam, a traditional ritual art form, takes place on the second day, accompanied by the offering of 101 Parayum Vilakkum. Various activities such as Ezhunnallathu, Utsavabali, Bhadrakali Theyattu, along with dance, music, Annadanam, Deepakazhcha, and Pallivetta, are presented before the Goddess, supported by Gajaveeras, Edupukuthira, and musical ensembles.
വള്ളിക്കീഴ് ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിൽ കാവനാട് നിന്നും കഷ്ടിച്ച് ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ചിരപുരാതനവും, ചരിത്രപ്രസിദ്ധവുമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് വള്ളിക്കീഴ് ശ്രീഭദ്ര ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിക്കായി സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വാണരുളുന്ന ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ശാന്ത സ്വരൂപിണിയും, സർവ്വാഭീഷ്ട വരദായിനിയുമാണ്. വള്ളിക്കീഴ് ശ്രീ ഭഗവതിയുടെ വാർഷികോത്സവം മീനഭരണി മഹോത്സവം എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
ആറ് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം നടക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടുകൂടി ആരംഭിച്ച്, പള്ളിവേട്ട കഴിഞ്ഞ് തിരു ആറാട്ടോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച്, തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റത്തിന്റെ തലേ ദിവസം പൊങ്കാല, രണ്ടാം ദിവസം ആചാരകലാരൂപമായ കുത്തിയോട്ടം, 101 പറയും വിളക്കും, ഏഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, ഉത്സവബലി, ഭദ്രകാളി തീയാട്ട്, നൃത്താർച്ചന, സംഗീതാർച്ചന, അന്നദാനം, ദീപക്കാഴ്ച, പള്ളിവേട്ട, ആറാട്ട് ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഗജവീരന്മാരുടെയും എടുപ്പുകുതിരകളുടെയും, വാദ്യമേളങ്ങളുടെയും മറ്റും അകമ്പടിയോടെ കെട്ടുകാഴ്‌ച ഭഗവതിക്ക് സമർപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
