Vayakkal Durga Devi Temple is situated in this region. It is recognized as one of the significant Durga Devi Temples in southern Kerala.
Durga Bhagavathy, also referred to as Durga Parameshwari, serves as the principal deity of Vayakkal Desam. In Hindu tradition and the Shakti philosophy, Durga is recognized as Adi Shakti, the universal mother. Devotees of Shakti hold the belief that all other goddesses and the divine trinity are manifestations of Durga, which is why she is often called Mahadevi. Furthermore, Durga is regarded as Mahashakthiswarupini, embodying the primary essence of Adiparashakti, the original goddess. In addition to the principal deity, Goddess Durga, the temple features subordinate deities such as Shiva, Ganapati, Shasta, and the Naga Gods. During the month of Makaram, the consecration of the temple along with the Kalasha Puja is conducted. Significant observances include Shivaratri, Navratri Mahotsavam, Ramayana Masacharam, Mandalakalachirappu, Trikarthika, and Makarapongala.
വയക്കൽ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം
വെട്ടിക്കവല ബ്ലോക്കിലെ പ്രകൃതിദൃശ്യങ്ങളാൽ സമൃദ്ധമായ ഒരു ഗ്രാമമാണ് വയക്കൽ. വെട്ടിക്കവലയിൽ നിന്ന് 9 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് വയക്കലിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. ഇവിടെ ചിരപ്രാചീനമായ വയക്കൽ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. വയക്കൽ ദേശത്തിന്റെ മാതൃദേവതയാണ് വയയ്ക്കലമ്മ (ദുർഗ്ഗാ ഭഗവതി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദുർഗ്ഗാ പരമേശ്വരി). ഹൈന്ദവ വിശ്വാസപ്രകാരം, ശക്തി സമ്പ്രദായത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ, ദുർഗ്ഗയെ ലോകമാതാവായ ആദിശക്തിയായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നു.

"മഹാകാളി, മഹാലക്ഷ്മി, മഹാസരസ്വതി" എന്നീ മൂന്ന് പ്രധാന രൂപങ്ങൾ ഭഗവതിക്ക് ഉണ്ട്.
ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠയായി കണക്കാക്കുമ്പോൾ, ശിവൻ, ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗദൈവങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ സാന്നിധ്യമുണ്ട്. മകരമാസത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാ വാർഷികവും കലശപൂജയും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാനമായ വിശേഷ ദിവസങ്ങൾ ശിവരാത്രി, നവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവം, രാമായണ മാസാചരണം, മണ്ഡലകാലചിറപ്പ്, തൃക്കാർത്തിക, മകരപൊങ്കാല എന്നിവയാണ്. നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വിശ്വാസികൾ ജാതിമത ഭേദമന്യേ ദേവിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം തേടി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തുന്നു.
