Vayalil Sri Bhagavathy Temple is located approximately one kilometer from Muttakavu, within the Itthikara block of Kollam district.
The temple is consecrated to Sri Durga Devi and Bhadra Devi, with both deities receiving equal reverence. Sri Bhadra Devi and Sri Durga Devi, representing Mahashakthiswarupini and Bhuvaneswari, are honored within this sacred space. Their shrines are designed in a similar architectural style. Vayalil Shree Bhagavatik Kshetra, located in Muttakkav, is revered for the divine presence of these two goddesses. The ten-day Pooyam Thirunal Mahotsavam and the anniversary of rededication take place in the month of Kumbham.
The festival features a variety of special rituals, including Pujas, Pongala, Kalamezhutum Pattum, Thottam Pattu, Poomoodal, Ezhunnallath, Kettukazhcha, idol processions, art performances, and musical evenings, all conducted in accordance with temple traditions. On festival days, large crowds gather at the temple to partake in the celebrations and receive the blessings of the deities. The Srimad Bhagavata Saptaha Yajna is conducted annually at the temple. The Sarpabali Mahotsavam takes place during the month of Thulam, and the temple is home to sub-deities including Ganapati, Shastav, and the Naga Gods. Additionally, Pattu and Mani pooja are performed daily to fulfill specific purposes.

മുട്ടക്കാവ് ഗ്രാമം, കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ ഇത്തിക്കര ബ്ലോക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം, സർവ്വൈശ്വര്യപ്രദായിനിയും ആശ്രിതവത്സലയുമായ ശ്രീ ഭദ്രാദേവിക്കും ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിക്കും സമാന പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്നു. ഇരുവരുടെയും ശ്രീകോവിലുകൾ ഒരേ മാതൃകയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. രണ്ട് ദേവിമാരുടെയും സാന്നിധ്യം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ പവിത്രമാക്കുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ പത്ത് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം നടക്കുന്ന പൂയം തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവവും പുനഃപ്രതിഷ്‌ഠാ വാർഷികവും ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകൾ, പൊങ്കാല, കളമെഴുത്ത്, പാട്ടുകൾ, തോറ്റം പാട്ട്, പൂമൂടൽ, എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, കെട്ടുകാഴ്ച, വിഗ്രഹ ഘോഷയാത്ര, കലാപരിപാടികൾ, സംഗീതസന്ധ്യകൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ക്ഷേത്രാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളോടുകൂടി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിൻറെ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ദേവിമാരുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം നേടുന്നതിനും പങ്കുചേരുന്നതിനും വലിയ ജനസംഖ്യ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ പത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ പൂയം തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവവും പുനഃപ്രതിഷ്‌ഠാ വാർഷികവും ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ വിശേഷാൽ പൂജകൾ, പൊങ്കാല, കളമെഴുത്ത്, പാട്ടുകൾ, തോറ്റം പാട്ട്, പൂമൂടൽ, എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, കെട്ടുകാഴ്ച, വിഗ്രഹ ഘോഷയാത്ര, കലാപരിപാടികൾ, സംഗീതസന്ധ്യകൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ക്ഷേത്രാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളോടുകൂടി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിൻറെ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ദേവിമാരുടെ അനുഗ്രഹത്തിനായി വലിയ ജനാവലി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു. എല്ലാ വർഷവും ശ്രീമദ് ഭാഗവത സപ്താഹ യജ്ഞം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. തുലാമാസത്തിൽ സർപ്പബലി മഹോത്സവം, ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗത്താന്മാർ എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്. ഉദ്ധിഷ്ട കാര്യസിദ്ധിക്ക് പട്ടും, മണിയും പൂജ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തുന്നു.
