Velimon Kottaram Maha Ganapathi temple is situated in Velimon, within the Kollam district of Kerala. This temple is devoted to Maha Ganapathi.
Ganapati is worshipped in an east-facing Chathura Sreekovil (a square-shaped sanctum). Goddess Bhagavathi is venerated in the Nalambalam (outer structure surrounding the sanctum), where a Kannadi Bimbam of the Goddess is also worshipped. The temple houses several Upa Devatas (sub-deities) including Rakshas, Yogeeswaran, Madan, Marutha, Yakshi, Nagas, and Kanyavu. The annual festival is celebrated on the Makam Nakshatra in the Kumbha Masam (February-March). In addition to the main festival, the temple also celebrates Vinayaka Chaturthi during the Chinga Masam (August-September).
വെള്ളിമൺ കൊട്ടാരം ശ്രീ മഹാഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രം
വെള്ളിമൺ, കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പെരിനാട് ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ഉപദ്വീപാണ്. പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് നാട്ടുരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ഭരണത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്ന ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് ഇപ്പോൾ ശ്രീ മഹാഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. കിഴക്കോട്ട് സമചതുരാകൃതിയിൽ ഉള്ള ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ ശ്രീ മഹാഗണപതിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയാണ്. ദിവസവും രണ്ട് തവണ പൂജ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ശ്രീകോവിലിന്റെ മുന്നിൽ ചതുരാകൃതിയിലുള്ള മുഖമണ്ഡപവും, പന്തലും കാണാം.
ഇവിടെ നാലമ്പലത്തിലെ ഭഗവതിയുടെ കണ്ണാടി ബിംബം പ്രതിഷ്‌ഠിച്ച ഒരു ഉപദേവാലയം കൂടി ഉണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ, നാലമ്പലത്തിന് പുറത്ത് രക്ഷസ്, യോഗീശ്വരൻ, മാടൻ, മറുത, യക്ഷി, കന്യാവ്, നാഗർ എന്നിവരെയും ഉപദേവന്മാരായി കാണാം. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മകം നാളിൽ ഭഗവാന്റെ തിരുഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിന് പുറമെ, വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥിയും വലിയ ആഘോഷത്തോടെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
