Vallakudi Sri Dharmashasta Temple is situated in Valhakudi, within the Pathanapuram taluk, on the eastern side of the Kollam district.
This temple is dedicated to Sri Ayyappan, who is revered as Dharma Shasta. The temple grounds are enveloped by hills and forests, fostering a tranquil and spiritual environment. Various special occasions are commemorated at the temple, with Mandalakalam, Makaravilakku, and Painkuni Uthram being particularly significant in the festivities. A considerable number of devotees visit for Shanidosha Nivaranam. Shasta serves as the principal deity associated with Shani. The Shasta bhajan is specifically intended to alleviate Shani doshas. Observing fasts on Saturdays and visiting Shasta temples while making offerings is encouraged. Neerajanam, which involves burning oil-soaked sesame wicks in pieces of coconut, is the simplest and most essential offering for Shastapreeti.

വിളക്കുടി എന്നത് കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പത്തനാപുരം താലൂക്കിലെ ഒരു ചെറിയ ഗ്രാമമാണ്. ഇവിടെ പ്രശസ്തമായ വിളക്കുടി ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. എല്ലാ വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങളിലും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. മണ്ഡലകാലം, മകരവിളക്ക്, പൈങ്കുനി ഉത്രം എന്നിവ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷങ്ങളാണ്. ശനിദോഷം നിവാരണത്തിനായി നിരവധി ഭക്തർ ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നു. ശാസ്താവ് ശനിയുടെ അധിദേവതയാണ്. ശനിദോഷങ്ങൾ അകറ്റാൻ ശാസ്താ ഭജനങ്ങൾ നിർദ്ദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശനിയാഴ്ചകളിൽ ഉപവാസവ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ച്, ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ദർശനം നടത്തി വഴിപാടുകൾ കഴിക്കുന്നതാണ്. ശാസ്താപ്രീതിക്കായി നടത്തുന്ന പ്രധാന വഴിപാട് നീരാജനമാണ്. നാളികേരം ഉടച്ച്, ആ മുറികളിൽ എള്ളെണ്ണ ഒഴിച്ച്, എള്ളുകിഴികെട്ടി ദീപം കത്തിക്കുന്നതാണ് നീരാജനം. ഇത് വീടുകളിലും ശാസ്താവിന്റെ ആരാധനയിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
