Antinadu Sri Mahadeva Temple is an ancient and sacred Shiva temple located on the banks of the Antinadu River in the Lalam village of the Meenachil Taluk in Kottayam district, Kerala.
This significant temple complex also holds equal reverence for the Bhadrakali Devi, making it a prominent site of worship. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is revered in the eastern aspect, while Goddess Parvati is honored in the western aspect. It serves as a sanctuary where devotees receive blessings in a serene form, embodying the essence of love and compassion alongside Goddess Parvati.
The idol here, depicted in such a tranquil manner, is exceptionally rare within the Shaiva tradition. It is believed that merely gazing upon this sacred idol brings forth auspiciousness. The Antinadu Sri Mahadeva Temple is a grand edifice, rich in antiquity, tradition, and profound significance that is difficult to articulate. Adjacent to the Mahadeva Temple, the equally significant Sri Puthikavilamma stands as the Northern Guardian, radiating divine grace.
The worship of the deity here is particularly esteemed for the alleviation of all ailments and the resolution of enmity. This temple is also known for its Vaishnavite practices. This temple holds significant importance for the serpent deities. As the temple's owner and protector, Rakshas bestows blessings upon the devotees. The temple also features a rare Yakshi installation.
According to ancient traditions, it is said that a large Karingimbana tree, reaching towards the sky, is the abode of the Yakshi, located within the temple's premises. offerings include payasam, appam, ada, and kadalipazham. The primary rituals consist of Shankhabhishekam, Mrityunjaya Homa, dhara, and pin vilakku.

ശ്രീ പാർവതിയോടൊപ്പം ആശ്രിത വൽസലനായി, ഭക്തർക്ക് ശാന്തസ്വരൂപത്തിൽ അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുന്ന ഭാവത്തിലാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ശൈവസങ്കല്പത്തിൽ ഇത്രയും ശാന്തസ്വരൂപമായ വിഗ്രഹം വളരെ അപൂർവ്വമാണ്. ഈ പുണ്യവിഗ്രഹത്തെ ഒരു നോക്കുകണ്ട് തൊഴുന്നതുപോലും സുക്രുതം ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന് ആചാര്യമതം പറയുന്നു. ആരാലും വർണ്ണിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത പ്രൗഢിയും പഴമയും പാരമ്പര്യവുമുള്ള മഹാക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അന്തിനാട് ശ്രീ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം.
ശ്രീ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്താണ് ശ്രീ പുതികാവിലമ്മ വടക്കുമ്പുറത്തമ്മയായി പുത്രീഭവത്തിൽ ഉന്നതമായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്. സർവ്വരോഗശമനത്തിനും ശത്രുതാ ദോഷപരിഹാരത്തിനും ഭഗവതിയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത് വളരെ പ്രത്യേകമാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വൈഷ്ണവ സാന്നിധ്യം ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. ശ്രീ മഹാദേവന്റെ പീഠത്തിൽ വിഷ്ണു ഭഗവാനും സാളഗ്രാമരൂപത്തിൽ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട ഒരു കാര്യമാണ്.
സർപ്പദൈവങ്ങൾക്ക് വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്ന ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഉടമയും സംരക്ഷകനുമായ രക്ഷസ് ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുന്നു. അപൂർവ്വതകളോടുകൂടിയ യക്ഷി പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തിരുമുറ്റത്ത് അംബരചുംബിയായ കൂറ്റൻ കരിംമ്പനിൽ യക്ഷിയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം ഉണ്ടെന്ന് പൂർവ്വികർ പറയുന്നു.
