Arvindeshwaram Shiva Temple is a historic site situated approximately 2 kilometers from Onamthuruth, in the Kottayam district of Etumanoor, and is dedicated to Lord Mahadeva.
According to the Puranas, the marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati took place on Mahashivaratri. To honor this occasion, Lord Shiva observes a fast and performs an anointing ritual on the Shiva lingam. Arvindeshwaram Shiva Temple is a significant site for devotees from Onamthuruthu, who visit on the auspicious day of Maha Shivaratri.
Sri Aravindeswaram Mahadevan serves as the Paradevata of the Aravindaveli Illam, which has been involved in the daily pujas at Etumanoor Mahakshetra for four generations. The Aravindeswaram Mahadeva Temple conducts daily rituals such as Dhara and Mrityunjayahomam, similar to those performed at Etumanur Mahakshetra.
Maharudrakshayanjam is conducted in this temple during the Maha Shivaratri festival, which occurs in the month of Kumbh. Following the Yajna, devotees receive Maharudrakshas, each featuring distinct faces, that have been venerated in the sacred Mahakshetras stretching from Kashi to Rameswaram. This distribution takes place after a week of special pujas.

ഏറ്റുമാനൂരിന് സമീപമുള്ള ഒണംതുരുത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 2 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അരവിന്ദേശ്വരം ശിവക്ഷേത്രം. മഹാശിവരാത്രി ദിനത്തിൽ ശിവനും പാർവതിയും വിവാഹിതരായതെന്നു പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നു.
ഈ ദിനത്തിന്റെ സ്മരണയിൽ ശിവഭക്തർ ഉപവസിക്കുകയും ശിവലിംഗത്തിന് അഭിഷേകം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. മഹാശിവരാത്രിയുടെ ശുഭദിനത്തിൽ, ഓണംതുരുത്തുകാർ ശിവ പ്രീതിക്കായി ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അരവിന്ദേശ്വരം ശിവക്ഷേത്രം. അരവിന്ദേശ്വരം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം, ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സമാനമായ രീതിയിൽ, ധാരയും മൃത്യു ജയഹോമവും നിത്യേന നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്.
കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മഹാശിവരാത്രിയോടനുബന്ധിച്ചാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മഹാരുദ്രാക്ഷയഞ്ജം നടത്തുന്നത്. യജ്ഞാനന്തരം, കാശി മുതൽ രാമേശ്വരം വരെയുള്ള പുരാതനവും ദിവ്യവുമായ മഹാക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ പൂജിച്ച വിവിധ മുഖങ്ങൾ ഉള്ള മഹാരുദ്രാക്ഷങ്ങൾ, ഏഴുദിവസത്തെ വിശേഷാൽ പൂജയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ഭക്തർക്ക് നൽകപ്പെടുന്നു. പൂജിച്ച രുദ്രാക്ഷം പൂജാമുറിയിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതും, നാമജപാനുഷ്ഠാന സമയങ്ങളിൽ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം ധരിക്കേണ്ടതുമാണ്.
