Aruvikkal Shiva Subramanya Swamy Temple is a sacred site dedicated to Lord Parameswaran and Lord Subramanian, both housed within the same premises.
Aruvikkal Shiva Subramanya Swamy Temple's origin is steeped in legend. It is said that the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple and its vicinity lay abandoned for an extended period due to the curse placed by Loma Maharshi.
During his travels, Sri Vilvamangalath Swamiyar, who later attained sainthood, visited Ettumanoor and resumed worship upon sensing the presence of the Shiva spirit. The Kalathoor Shiva Temple is believed to have been established during the era when the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple was enveloped by forest. The current structure of the temple was constructed after the cave entrance was gradually sealed over time.
The annual festivals, particularly the poojas and rituals, play a vital role in preserving our distinctive cultural heritage and artistic expressions. On the Ayilyam day of the Kannimasam, a special Ayilyam Pooja, known as Noorum Paalum, is conducted, attracting numerous devotees who come to honor the annual Karkitaka Vavubali (patriarchal offering). The temple also features sub-deities, including Sasta and Nagaraja.

കോട്ടയത്തുനിന്നും ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ കാണാക്കാരി വഴി കളത്തുർ എത്തിച്ചേർന്ന്, അവിടെനിന്ന് 750 മീറ്റർ സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്താൻ സാധിക്കും. ഒരേ വളപ്പിൽ ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരനും, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനും പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളായുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അരുവിക്കൽ ശിവ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഉല്പത്തിക്ക് പിന്നിൽ ഒരു കഥ നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു.
ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രവും പരിസരവും ലോമമഹർഷിയുടെ ശാപത്താൽ ദീർഘകാലം ആരാധന മുടങ്ങി കാടായിതീർന്നു കിടന്നതായി ഐത്യഹങ്ങളിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. പിന്നീട്, സന്യാസിവര്യനായ ശ്രീ വില്വമംഗലത് സ്വാമിയാർ തൻറെ ദേശസഞ്ചാരത്തിനിടയിൽ ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ സന്ദർശിക്കുകയും ശിവചൈതന്യം അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആരാധന പുനരാരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതായി ഐത്യഹങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നു.
ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം ശിവ ആരാധനയ്ക്കായി നിർമ്മിതമായ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്, ഇത് കളത്തൂർ ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം നിലവിലുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മുമ്പ് വലിയ ഒരു ഗുഹയുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നതായിരുന്നു. കാലക്രമേണ, ഗുഹയുടെ മുഖം അടഞ്ഞുപോയതോടെ, ഇന്നത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
വർഷംതോറും നടക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവങ്ങൾ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് പൂജകളും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. കന്നിമാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം നാളിൽ മേൽശാന്തി രാജീവ് നമ്പുതിരിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പ്രത്യേക ആയില്യം പൂജയും, നൂറും പാലും സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങുകളും ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്നു. അരുവിക്കൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ശിവരാത്രി ആഘോഷം ആഘോഷപൂർവ്വം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
50-ൽ പരം കലാകാരന്മാർ പാണ്ടിമേളത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നു. രാത്രി 11 മണിക്ക് ശിവരാത്രി പൂജയും, ഭഗവാന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമായ അഷ്ഠാഭിഷേകവും നടക്കും. ക്ഷേത്രക്കടവിൽ ആണ്ടുതോറും നടക്കുന്ന കർക്കിടക വാവുബലി (പിതൃതർപ്പണം) നടത്തുന്നതിനായി അനേകം ഭക്തർ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു.
