Chotty Mahadeva Temple is a historic shrine situated in the village of Chhoti, Mundakkayam, within the Kottayam district.
Shiva, referred to as Mahadeva or Hara, is a central figure in Hinduism and is regarded as the Supreme Being within the various sects of Shaivism.
He is associated with deities such as Sree Parvathy, Lord Ganesha, Lord Subrahmania, Lord Ayyappa, Lord Krishna, Durga Devi, and Nagaraja. Notable rituals include Narangavilakku, which occurs every Friday at 10 AM, as well as Ayilyapooja, celebrated on the day of Ayilyam each month, along with Shashtipooja and Pradhosha pooja.
ചോറ്റി മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
മുണ്ടക്കയം ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ചോറ്റിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചോട്ടി മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം. മുണ്ടക്കയത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 6 കിലോമീറ്റർ, കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്ന് 10 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരനാണ്.
ശ്രീപാർവ്വതി, ഗണപതി, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, അയ്യപ്പൻ, കൃഷ്ണൻ, ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവി, നാഗരാജാവ് എന്നിവരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹീതമാക്കുന്നു. പ്രത്യേക പൂജകൾ നാരങ്ങാവിളക്ക് (എല്ലാ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചകളിലും രാവിലെ 10 മണിക്ക്), ആയില്യപൂജ (ഓരോ മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം നാളിൽ), ഷഷ്ഠിപൂജ, പ്രദോഷപൂജ. പ്രധാന വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങൾ ശിവരാത്രി, തിരുവാതിര, നവരാത്രി, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, തൈപ്പൂയം.
