Ezhumanthuruthu Poonkavil Devi Temple, located in Kottayam, is dedicated to the goddess Bala Bhadra.
It is widely believed that a goddess in the guise of an infant, known as Devi BalaBhadra, accompanied them without their knowledge. During the catastrophic flood of "99," which impacted regions throughout Kerala, a notable figure, commonly referred to as "Mundar Velu," became aware of Devi's presence in Poonkav.
He promptly summoned the Tantriks, verified the existence of Devi, and initiated the construction of the temple.
The villagers hold a strong belief that Devi Baalabhadra watches over the welfare of every girl child. Furthermore, it is thought that the worship and offerings of the renowned Neyyvilakku and Lemon chain by young girls hasten their prospects of marriage.
