Kalampookkavu Devi Temple is situated in the village of Mulakkulam, within the Kaduthuruthy block of the Vaikom taluk in the Kottayam district.
The temple has a history spanning approximately 600 years. Historically, Uraima was under the ownership of the Namboodiris. Currently, the temple is managed by the Uranma Devaswom Board, which comprises members from Uraima. The Kalamboor Kavu Devi temple is situated in Kalampoor, near Piravom, alongside the banks of the Moovattupuzha River.
The annual celebration at Kalamboorkavu, known as the Pana Mahotsavam, is renowned and takes place during the Malayalam month of Meena (March – April). Another significant festival observed at the temple is Meena Bharani.
The inaugural day of the festival is referred to as Ariyeru, during which a traditional supper is provided for devotees in the evening following the temple pujas and rituals. The subsequent day is called Cheriya Pana, while the third day is recognized as the most significant, known as Valiya Pana. On this day, boats arrive at the temple from the Velloor and Mulakulam regions, carrying large wooden effigies of Bhima and Garuda, accompanied by thappu melam and chenda melam.
On this occasion, Pana Kanji (rice gruel or porridge) is served alongside Chakka Puzhukku to all devotees. The annual festival at the temple situated on the banks of the Muvattupuzha River is renowned for its diverse cultural and religious observances. The festivities commence with the procession of Panakar and an elephant carrying the Thidambu of Bhagavathi to the Pana nada for the Pana ezhunallippu ritual.
The subsequent days witness the Darika and Garudam Thookam rituals, as well as the celebrated Panchavadyam, Pandi Melam, and various traditional performing art forms of Kerala. The temple itself is a fine example of the traditional Kerala architectural style, featuring a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, chuttambalam, kodimaram, and shrines of upa devatas. The Mudiyettu festival is held within the temple premises during the Dhanu Masam.
കളമ്പൂക്കാവ് ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം
കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ വൈക്കം താലൂക്കിലെ കടുത്തുരുത്തി ബ്ലോക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മുളക്കുളം ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ പ്രശസ്തമായ കളമ്പൂക്കാവ് ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ ആറിയുടെ തീരത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. കളമ്പൂക്കാവ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പാന മഹോത്സവം വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. അരിയേറ്, ചെറിയപാന, വലിയപാന തൂക്കം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന അനുഷ്ഠാനപരമായ ചടങ്ങുകൾ നാല് ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
പുലർച്ചെ നടക്കുന്ന പടയണിയോടെ കാവിൽ പാനത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭം നടക്കും. ദാരിക ദാനവേന്ദ്രൻമാരെ ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ഉഗ്ര യുദ്ധം നടത്തി വധിക്കുന്നതിനെ പ്രതീകവത്ക്കരിച്ച് പാനനാളുകളിൽ വിവിധ ചടങ്ങുകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പടയണി, അരിയേറ് വിളക്ക്, പാനപ്പുര പൂജ, പാനതുളളൽ, പാന എഴുന്നളിപ്പുകൾ, താലപ്പൊലി, പാനപ്പുര വലിയഗുരുതി, ഒറ്റത്തൂക്കം ദാരികൻ തൂക്കം, ഗരുഡൻ തൂക്കം, കെട്ടുകാഴ്ച്ചവരവ് എന്നിവയാണ് പാന നാളുകളിലെ പ്രധാന അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ.
പാനക്കാർക്ക് പാരമ്പര്യ വിഭവങ്ങളോടെ നൽകുന്ന പാനക്കഞ്ഞി, കാവിലെത്തുന്ന എല്ലാ ഭക്തർക്കും ദേവീ പ്രസാദമായി വിതരണം ചെയ്യും. പുലർച്ചെ പടയണി. കത്തിച്ച ചൂട്ടുകറ്റകളോടുകൂടി ദേവി സ്തുതികൾ പാടുന്ന ഭക്തസംഘങ്ങൾ കാവിന് പ്രദക്ഷിണം നടത്തും. വൈകീട്ട് ദീപാരാധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം അരിയേറ്, വിളക്ക് എന്നിവ നടക്കും. രാത്രി അരിയേറത്താഴസദ്യയും, ചെറിയപാന ദിനത്തിൽ രാവിലെ മുതൽ പുരാണപാരായണം, തിരുവാതിരകളി, കോൽക്കളി, പാനപ്പുര പൂജ, ഉച്ചപൂജ, പാനതുളൽ തുടങ്ങിയ ചടങ്ങുകളും നടക്കും. തുടർന്ന് പാനക്കഞ്ഞി വിതരണം ചെയ്യും.
പിന്നീട്, പാണ്ടിമേളത്തിന്റെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ ദേവിയെ പാന നടയിലേക്ക് എഴുന്നള്ളിക്കും. സമാപന ദിനത്തിൽ തൂക്കത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം വളരെ കൂടുതലാണ്. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് പാനപ്പുരയിൽ വലിയ ഗുരുതിയുണ്ടാകും. വൈകീട്ട് ദീപാരാധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ദേവിയെ കീഴ്ക്കാവിലേക്ക് എഴുന്നളിക്കും. തുടർന്ന് ഒറ്റത്തൂക്കം, ദേശതാലപ്പൊലി, രാത്രി ദാരികൻ തൂക്കം, ഗരുഡൻ തൂക്കം എന്നിവയും നടക്കും. കോട്ടയം, എറണാകുളം ജില്ലകൾ സംഗമിക്കുന്ന കളമ്പൂരിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പാനമഹോത്സവം ഈ ഇരുജില്ലകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രധാന ഉത്സവമാണ്.
