Sri Durgadevi Temple in Vazhappally Kannamperur holds significant historical importance and is situated in Vazhappally, within the Changanassery region of the Kottayam district.
The principal deity worshipped is Goddess Durga. Kannamperur Devi represents the goddess revered by a Brahmin family that fled North Kottayam during the conflict involving Tipu Sultan of Mysore and subsequently established themselves in Travancore.
Kannamperur is recognized as one of the captivating destinations on the tourist map of Kerala. The Vazhappally Kannamperur Bridge was dismantled by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the King of Travancore, to avert the South's war in 1749. This bridge is situated in proximity to the Kannamperur Devi Temple. In addition to Goddess Durga, other deities worshipped include Shiva (Vazhappally Thevar), Bhadrakali, Sastav, and Nagaraja.

വാഴപ്പള്ളി കണ്ണമ്പേരൂർ ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിക്ഷേത്രം കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി വാഴപ്പള്ളിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രപരമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. വാഴപ്പള്ളി ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 1.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കുമാറി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. എം.സി. റോഡിൽ വാഴപ്പള്ളിച്ചിറ (പാലാത്ത്ര) എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്ന് 2 കിലോമീറ്റർ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് പോകുമ്പോൾ ക്ഷേത്രം കാണാം.
ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ കാർത്ത്യായനിദേവിയായിരുന്നു, പിന്നീട് ദുർഗ്ഗാ സങ്കല്പത്തിൽ മാറ്റി പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. മൈസൂർ സുൽത്താനായ ടിപ്പുവിന്റെ പടയോട്ടക്കാലത്ത് വടക്കൻ കോട്ടയത്തുനിന്നും പാലായനം ചെയ്ത് തിരുവിതാംകൂറിൽ താമസിച്ച ബ്രാഹ്മണകുടുംബത്തിലെ പരദേവതയാണ് കണ്ണമ്പേരൂർ ദേവി.
കണ്ണമ്പേരൂർ കേരളചരിത്രത്തോടും ആധുനിക തിരുവിതാംകൂരിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തോടും ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഒരു പ്രധാന പ്രദേശമാണ്. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ രാജാവായ അനിഴം തിരുനാൾ മാർത്താണ്ഡവർമ്മ 1749-ൽ നടന്ന തെക്കുക്കൂർ യുദ്ധത്തെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാൻ വാഴപ്പള്ളി കണ്ണമ്പേരൂർ പാലം തകർത്ത് കളഞ്ഞു. കണ്ണമ്പേരൂർ ദേവിക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് സമീപമാണ് ഈ പാലം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവി ഇവിടെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠയാണ്. ഉപദേതമാരായി ശിവൻ (വാഴപ്പള്ളി തേവർ), ഭദ്രകാളി, ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗരാജാവ് എന്നിവരാണ്.
