Sree Kumaramangalam Subramanyaswamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is situated along the banks of Vembanad Lake.
In 1903, Sree Narayana Guru, a prominent social reformer who challenged caste discrimination within Hinduism, consecrated an idol of Lord Subrahmanya at Kumarakom. This idol subsequently became the presiding deity of the Sree Kumaramangalam temple.
The temple's festival is celebrated on Pooyam day during the Malayalam month of Kumbham, which typically occurs in March. In addition to the religious rituals, various cultural activities take place, including performances of Nadaswaram, Ottan thullal, Amman kudam, Kavadi, and Garuda Nruttam.
Another significant celebration at this temple is Thaipooyam, which occurs in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January - February). The highlight of this festival is the procession featuring colorful kavadis and milk pots. On this day, devotees also engage in the practice of body piercing with small lances, particularly on the cheeks and tongue.

കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ കുമരകത്തുനിന്ന് 2.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയായി ശ്രീ കുമാരമംഗലം സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കുമരകം പ്രദേശത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. മകരമാസത്തിലെ തൈപ്പൂയ മഹോത്സവം ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
1903-ൽ ഹിന്ദുമതത്തിലെ ജാതി മുൻവിധികൾക്കെതിരെ പോരാടിയ മഹാനായ സാമൂഹിക പരിഷ്കർത്താവായ ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരു കുമരകത്ത് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തി, വിഗ്രഹം ശ്രീകുമാരമംഗലം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയായി മാറി. മലയാള മാസമായ കുംഭത്തിലെ പൂയം നാളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു.
ചടങ്ങുകൾക്കൊപ്പം വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികളും സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികളും അരങ്ങേറുന്നു. നാദസ്വരം, ഓട്ടൻ തുള്ളൽ, അമ്മൻ കുടം, കാവടി, ഗരുഡനൃത്തം എന്നിവ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. തൈപ്പൂയം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷമാണ്, ഇത് മലയാള മാസമായ മകരത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നു.
വർണ്ണാഭമായ കാവടികളും കുംഭകുടങ്ങളും ഘോഷയാത്രയായി കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത് ഈ ദിനത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണമാണ്. ദേവ പ്രീതിക്കായി ഭക്തർ അവരുടെ ശരീരത്തിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കവിളുകളിലും നാവിലും, ചെറിയ ശൂലങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് തുളക്കുന്നു.
