Naamamkulangara Devi Temple is an ancient temple located on Poovassery Memuri Road in Neendoor, Kottayam district.
Annual Mudiyeet ritual performed at this temple is very famous. Mudiyeet is a traditional ritual art form performed by the Kuruppu and Marar communities. The theme of this performance is Dharikavadham (the slaying of the demon Darika).
A group of 12 to 20 people is required to enact this story. The main ceremonies of Mudiyeet include Kalamezhuthu (ritual drawing on the ground), Thiriyuzhichil (a lamp-lighting ritual), Thalappoli (procession with lamps), Pratishta Pooja (consecration rituals), and Kalam Maykkal (erasing the ritual drawings).
The key parts of the Mudiyeet performance include Arangukeli (musical introduction), Arangu Vazhtthal (ritual blessing of the stage), the entrance of Darikan (demon) and Kaali (goddess), and the battle between Kaali and Darikan.
