Parippu Mahadeva Temple is a Hindu place of worship situated in Parippu, within the Aymanam panchayat of the Kottayam district in the Indian state of Kerala.
The principal deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, who is oriented towards the east. It is regarded as one of the 108 'Shivalayas' established by Lord Parashurama. The subordinate deities include Krishna, Sastha, Ganapathy, and Bhagavathy. The primary offerings made to the deity consist of Dhara, Pinvilakku, Pushpanjali, Payasam, and Koovalamala.
This temple, referred to as Nalparappil in the esteemed Shivalaya stotra, has significant ties to the Thekkumkur raja. At present, it is managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, while the tantric rights are held by Bhadrakali Mattappally Nambudiri. The current temple was constructed by the Madathil Raja, also known as the Edappally Raja, in the year 825 AD. He hailed from the Madathil palace located near Parippu. The local chieftain, Idathil Raja, had a strained relationship with him, and both rulers, who were devoted to Lord Shiva, preferred to avoid encounters at the Mahadeva temple they frequented.
To address this issue, two Balikkalpuras, which serve as traditional frontages, were built at the temple, a departure from the typical single Balikkalpura found in other temples across Kerala. Historically, approximately 141 Nair families established their residence in Parippu. The region witnessed significant advancement in ancient art forms such as Ezhamathukali and Kavanayeru. Parippu, situated near water bodies, gained political significance due to the presence of the raja's military unit and its trade connections. The annual festival, known as Thiruvutsavam, takes place in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March/April), while Maha Shivaratri and Thiruvathira are also celebrated as notable festive occasions.
പരിപ്പ് മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം

ഇടപ്പള്ളി രാജാവിന്റെ മഠം ഈ സ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് അടുത്തായിരുന്നു, അതിനാൽ ഇവിടെക്കാർ രാജാവിനെ മഠത്തിൽ രാജാവ് എന്നറിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പരിപ്പിലെ ഇടത്തിൽ രാജാവ് എന്ന ഇടപ്രഭുവിന് ഇടപ്പള്ളി രാജാവുമായി നല്ല ബന്ധമുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അതിനാൽ, അവർ ഒരുമിച്ച് ക്ഷേത്രദർശനം നടത്താറില്ലായിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ, അത് ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ അവർ ഇവിടെ രണ്ടു ബലിക്കൽ പുരകൾ പണിതീർത്തു.
കൂടാതെ, പൂജാ നൈവേദ്യം ഒരുക്കുന്നതിനായി രണ്ടു തിടപ്പള്ളികളും നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ആണ്ടുത്സവം മീനമാസത്തിൽ തിരുവാതിര ആറാട്ട് വരത്തക്ക രീതിയിൽ എട്ടുദിവസം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ശിവരാത്രി ഈ ആഘോഷങ്ങളിൽ അത്യന്തം പ്രധാനമാണ്. തിരുവാതിര , പ്രദോഷം പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ. ഉപദേവന്മാർ, ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ, ശാസ്താവ്, ഗണപതി, ഭഗവതി എന്നിവരാണ്.
