Thekumthala Sri Bhagavathi Temple is located in the Anikad region of Chengalam East village, within the Akalakkunnam Panchayat in Kottayam district.
This sacred temple has a history of approximately 800 years. It can be reached by traveling eight kilometers from Cherpunkal via Kozhuvanal-Mainkandam. This location marks the boundary of Meenichil Taluk. It is believed that the name "Kanjiramattam" originated from the presence of Kanjiram trees in the area. In ancient times, this region was known as the northern part of Anikad.
