Annapoorneshwari Temple, situated in Vazhappally, is located in Changanassery within the Kottayam district of Kerala.
Annapoorneshwari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Annapoorna. The annual festival takes place during the Malayalam month of Meena (March – April) and culminates on Medam 1, which is celebrated as Vishu day. This temple exemplifies traditional Kerala architecture, featuring a chathura sreekovil, a namaskara mandapam, and shrines dedicated to various upa devatas.
The upa devatas honored within the temple include Ganapathy, Sri Krishna, Yakshi, Yogeeswaran, Amman, Mada Swamy, and Bhairava.
The shrine is overseen by the goldsmith community. The annual festival is renowned for its distinctive pujas and rituals associated with Shakti worship in South India. Activities such as melam, ezhunnallathu, homam, abhishekam, and various performing arts are integral to the festival. Key rituals include thengayeru, kumbham ezhunellippu, kumbha abhishekam, vazhipadu karakam, and agni praveshanam. The festival concludes with the Arattu ceremony and the oorkarakkam ritual.
വാഴപ്പള്ളി അന്നപൂർണേശ്വരി ക്ഷേത്രം
കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 2 കി.മി അകലെ വാഴപ്പള്ളിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് വാഴപ്പള്ളി അന്നപൂർണേശ്വരി ക്ഷേത്രം. വാഴപ്പള്ളി ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഐശ്വര്യദായിനിയായ അന്നപൂർണേശ്വരിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുള്ള പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ഇത്.
അമ്മൻദേവതകളായ മീനാക്ഷിയമ്മ, മുത്താരമ്മ, ഉച്ചിമഹാകാളി, ഭൈരവസ്വാമി, ഗദാധാരി മാടസ്വാമി, ഗണപതി, വേണുവൂതു, ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ, ആൽത്തറഗണപതി, നാഗങ്ങൾ, യോഗേശ്വരൻ എന്നിവരും ഇവിടെ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. വിഷുമഹോത്സവം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവമാണ്.
