Nadapuram Iringannur Siva Temple is an ancient Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the village of Iringannur within the Edacheri Panchayath of Kozhikkode District, Kerala.
The temple's primary deity is Dakshinamurthy, housed in a separate sanctum that faces east. According to local legend, the idol was installed by sage Parasurama, and this temple is recognized as one of the 108 renowned Shiva temples in Kerala. It is one of the three Thrikkapaleeswaram temples referenced in the 108 Shiva temples sothram, with the other two located in Niranam (Niranam Thrikkapaleeswaram Dakshinamurthy Temple) in Pathanamthitta district and Kadachira (Kadachira Sri Thrikkapalam Siva Temple) in Kannur district.
This temple is among the oldest in the Kozhikode district, situated in Edacherry Panchayat. The temple's architecture is reminiscent of the grand Maha temples, featuring a majestic two-tiered sanctum sanctorum that exemplifies the traditional Kerala temple style, complete with a rectangular shape and tiled roof. The sanctum has four doors, with only the eastern door being opened, leading to the presence of Lord Dhakshinamurthy, represented by a Shiva lingam.
The temple faces east and is adorned with a prominent tower. It is believed that the deity, Lord Shiva, manifests as Sada Shiva, with the Shiva lingam depicted as having only two eyes. The name of the village, Iringannur, is thought to be derived from the temple deity, combining the words for 'two' (Iru), 'eyes' (Kannu), and 'place' (Oor). The Iringannur Shiva Temple is a significant heritage structure in the Kozhikode district of Vadakara, and both the temple structure and its pond have recently undergone renovations.
The temple also features sub-deities including Ganapathy, Ayyappan, the Snake Goddess, and Srikrishnan. നാദാപുരം ഇരിങ്ങണ്ണൂർ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം
കേരളത്തിലെ കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ നാദാപുരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന അതിപുരാതനമായ ശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് നാദാപുരം ഇരിങ്ങണ്ണൂർ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. 108 ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന മൂന്നു തൃക്കപാലീശ്വരങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. മറ്റ് രണ്ട് തൃക്കപാലീശ്വരങ്ങൾ നിരണത്തും പെരളശ്ശേരിയിലും സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. നാദാപുരം ഇരിങ്ങണ്ണൂർ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ പരശുരാമനാണ് നടത്തിയത് എന്ന വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. നാദാപുരത്തിലെ എടച്ചേരി പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മിതിയിൽ അത്യന്തം മനോഹാരിതയുണ്ട്. നാലമ്പലവും, തിടപ്പള്ളിയും, ബലിക്കല്പുരയും, മുഖമണ്ഡപത്തോടുകൂടിയ ശ്രീകോവിലും എല്ലാം മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ശൈലിയിൽ പണിതിരിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രം കിഴക്കോട്ട് അഭിമുഖമായാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കിഴക്കുവശത്തുള്ള അഗ്രമണ്ഡപത്തിനു മുന്നിൽ പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് നമസ്കാരമണ്ഡപം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കാം. കിഴക്കേ നാലമ്പലത്തിലൂടെ ബലിക്കല്പുര കടന്നാൽ, ചതുരത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച മനോഹരമായ മുഖമണ്ഡപം കാണാം. മുഖമണ്ഡപവും ശ്രീകോവിലും ദ്വിതാല രൂപമാണം ഉള്ളതാണ്. ശ്രീകോവിലിന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാലമ്പലത്തിൽ തിടപ്പിള്ളിയും പണിതീർത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
നാലമ്പലത്തിന്റെ വടക്ക് ഭാഗത്ത് വിഷ്ണു പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുണ്ട്.കിഴക്കു വശത്ത് വലിയ ക്ഷേത്രക്കുളം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ശ്രീമഹാദേവന്റെ രൗദ്രഭാവത്തിന് ശമനം ലഭിക്കുവാൻ ഇവിടെ ക്ഷേത്രക്കുളത്തിലേക്ക് ദൃഷ്ടി വരുത്തുന്ന വിധത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ, ഇവിടെ ശിവപ്രതിഷ്ഠയ്ക്ക് മൂന്നാം കണ്ണ് (തൃക്കണ്ണ്) ഇല്ല. സർവ്വദാഹകമായ മൂന്നാം കണ്ണ് ഇല്ലാത്തതിനാൽ, രൗദ്രനല്ല, സൗമ്യനാണ് ഇവിടെ ശിവൻ എന്ന വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു.
രണ്ട് കണ്ണുകൾ ഉള്ള ശിവപ്രതിഷ്ഠയിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇരിങ്ങണ്ണൂർ (ഇര്+കണ്ണ്+ഊര്) എന്ന സ്ഥലനാമം ഉത്ഭവിച്ചതെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഉഷപൂജ, ഉച്ചപൂജ, അത്താഴപൂജ എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള നിത്യേന മൂന്നു പൂജകൾ നടക്കുന്നതോടൊപ്പം ശിവരാത്രി, മണ്ഡലപൂജ, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രത്യേക ഉത്സവങ്ങളും ഭക്തിഭാവത്തോടെ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
