Kalipoika Thrikkovil Mahavishnu Temple, under the administration of the Kerala Temple Protection Committee (Kshetra Samrakshana Samithi), is located in Kottuli, about 4.5 kilometers from Mananchira in Kozhikode.
It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the temple from Kozhikode town. The temple, once in a dilapidated state, has been taken over by the committee and is currently undergoing renovation and restoration.
Kalipoika Thrikkovil Mahavishnu Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu, one of the principal deities in Hinduism and the supreme protector in the Hindu Trinity (Trimurti) alongside Brahma (the creator) and Shiva (the destroyer).
Lord Vishnu is believed to preserve and sustain the universe, maintaining dharma (cosmic order). He is often depicted as a serene, dark-complexioned deity with four arms, holding a conch (shankha), discus (chakra), mace (gada), and lotus (padma). Lord Vishnu incarnates on earth in various forms known as Dashavatara—ten avatars including Rama, Krishna, and Narasimha—to restore righteousness whenever evil threatens the balance of the world.
Devotees believe that sincere prayers to Lord Mahavishnu bring peace, prosperity, and the fulfillment of righteous desires.
തൃക്കോവിൽ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം
കേരള ക്ഷേത്ര സംരക്ഷണ സമിതി ദേവസ്വത്തിന്റെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിലുള്ള ഈ ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം, കോഴിക്കോട് മാനാഞ്ചിറയിൽ നിന്നും നാലര കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരെയുള്ള കോട്ടുളിയിലാണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയുന്നത്. നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം പതിനഞ്ച് മിനിറ്റിനുള്ളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്തിയേക്കാം.
അതിമനോഹരവും പുരാതനവുമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരിക്കൽ ജീർണ്ണാവസ്ഥയിൽ ആയിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും, ക്ഷേത്ര സംരക്ഷണ സമിതി ഏറ്റെടുത്ത് പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായി തുടരുകയാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനെ സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ഹിന്ദുമതത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ത്രിമൂർത്തികളിലൊരായ വിഷ്ണു ഭഗവാൻ സംരക്ഷകൻ ആയാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ബ്രഹ്മാവാണ് സൃഷ്ടാവ്, ശിവൻ നാശം വരുത്തുന്നവൻ, വിഷ്ണുവാകട്ടെ ലോകം സംരക്ഷിക്കുകയും, ധർമ്മം നിലനിർത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവനാണ്.
ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു സാധാരണയായി നാല് കൈകളോടുകൂടിയവനായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു — ഒരു കൈയിൽ ശംഖ് (ശങ്ക്), മറ്റൊന്നിൽ ചക്രം (സുദർശന ചക്രം), മൂന്നാമത്തെ കൈയിൽ ഗദ (ഗദായുധം), നാലാമതിൽ പദ്മം (താമര). ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണു ദശാവതാരങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഭൂമിയിൽ അവതരിക്കുകയും, ഓരോ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലും അനീതിക്കെതിരെ ധർമ്മം പുനസ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതാണ് വിശ്വാസം.
