Sree Kilipparambu Devi Temple, located on Link Road near Kozhikode Railway Station in Kozhikode district, is an ancient temple under the Kerala Temple Protection Committee Devaswom.
Sree Kilipparambu Devi Temple is renowned for its "Thottam Pattu," a ritualistic folk song tradition. The grand "Thira Thalappoli Mahotsavam" held in the month of Meenam (March-April) is a visual, auditory, and spiritual treat. "Thottam Pattu" refers to devotional songs used to invoke deities, typically performed before Theyyam and other ritual dances.
These are sung mainly by communities like Vannan, Malayan, Pulayan, Anjuttan, and Munnuttan who are traditionally involved in Theyyam. The Thottam represents the initial phase of the Theyyam performance, narrating the deity's story and inviting the divine presence. "Thirayattam," practiced annually in temples and ancestral homes in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, is a vibrant tribal ritual art form that combines dance, dramatic expression, vocal and instrumental music, facial and body painting, martial arts, and rituals.
It is a distinct cultural expression of South Malabar, performed with intense devotion amidst the rhythmic beats of traditional drums under the glow of fire torches. Temple grounds serve as strongholds of cultural preservation, and it is through these annual festivals and rituals like Thirayattam that Kerala’s unique heritage and art forms continue to thrive.

കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷൻ ലിങ്ക് റോഡിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ശ്രീ കിളിപ്പറമ്പ് ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു അതിപുരാതനവും ആധ്യാത്മികമായ മഹത്വം പുലർത്തുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. കേരള ക്ഷേത്ര സംരക്ഷണ സമിതി ദേവസ്വത്തിൻറെ കീഴിലായ ഈ ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം, ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ തോറ്റം പാട്ടിനും മീനമാസത്തിലെ തിറ താലപ്പൊലി മഹോത്സവത്തിനും ഏറെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. ഭക്തിഭാവത്തോടെയുള്ള ഈ ഉത്സവം കാഴ്ചയ്ക്കും കാതിനും മനസ്സിനും ഒരു ഉത്സവാനുഭവം പകരുന്നു. 'തോറ്റം' എന്നത് സ്തോത്രം അഥവാ ദൈവം സ്മരിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള പാട്ടാണ്, തെയ്യത്തിൻറെ ആദ്യഘട്ടമായ ഇത് ദൈവത്തെ ആവാഹിക്കുകയും ദൈവചരിത്രം വർണ്ണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
തെയ്യ കലയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വംശീയ സമുദായങ്ങൾ ആചാരപരമായ രീതിയിൽ പാടുന്ന ഈ പാട്ടുകൾ ഭദ്രകാളീ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ തുടങ്ങിയ അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളിലുമുണ്ട്. അതുപോലെ, തൻമയതയോടെ കോലമണിഞ്ഞ് കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന തിറയാട്ടം, ഗോത്രസാംസ്കാരിക വിശിഷ്ടതയുള്ള ഒരു ദൃശ്യവിസ്മയമായി മാറുന്നു. നൃത്തം, ഗാനങ്ങൾ, ചെണ്ടമേളം, മുഖമേലിവ്, ആയുധനാടനം, വേഷം, ആചാരങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയുടെ സമന്വയമായ തിറയാട്ടം, തെക്കൻ മലബാറിന്റെ തനതായ ആചാരപരമ്പരയെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്നതിനൊപ്പം ക്ഷേത്രമൈതാനങ്ങളെ സംസ്കാരത്തിൻറെ ഈറ്റില്ലമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്ന, കലയും ഭക്തിയും സംയോജിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു മഹത്തായ അനുഭവമാണ്.
