Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Vamana Temple Kuttikkattoor Kozhikkode

This is an ancient temple with a legacy spanning over a millennium. It is situated about 12 kilometers from Kozhikode town and can be reached with a 20-minute drive. This renowned Narasimha temple is well-known among both devotees and visitors alike.

The deity is enshrined in a fierce form, symbolizing the manifestation that subdued the demon king Hiranyakashipu. It is considered one of the 69 prominent Narasimha temples in Kerala. Although Lord Narasimha is a fierce and powerful form created for the destruction of evil, he is also known for his swift grace towards devotees.

Worshipping with pure devotion and lighting ghee lamps at Narasimha temples is believed to fulfill wishes and remove obstacles related to career and marriage. Offering a garland of Tulsi (holy basil) is another important ritual here. The favorite flower for offerings is the red hibiscus, and the primary offering is payasam (a sweet pudding).

കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിൽ ചേവായൂരിന് സമീപം കുട്ടിക്കാട്ടൂരിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന സഹസ്രാബ്ദങ്ങളുടെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു പ്രധാന നരസിംഹക്ഷേത്രമാണ് കുട്ടിക്കാട്ടൂർ ശ്രീ ലക്ഷ്മി നരസിംഹ വാമന ക്ഷേത്രം. കോഴിക്കോടുനിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 12 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരത്തിൽ ഇരുപത് മിനിറ്റ് യാത്രചെയ്താൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്തിച്ചേരാം.

ഭക്തരിലും സഞ്ചാരികളിലും ഒരുപോലെ ശ്രദ്ധ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, ഹിരണ്യകശിപുവിനെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ച ഭീകരരൂപത്തിലാണ് നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ 69 പ്രധാന നരസിംഹക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ദേവതയെ, ശത്രുനിഗ്രഹത്തിനായി ഉദിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഭക്തന്മാരോട് ക്ഷിപ്ര പ്രസാദിയായ ദയാസാഗരനായി വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

മനഃശുദ്ധിയോടെ നെയ്യ് വിളക്ക് കത്തിച്ച് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ, ഭക്തർക്ക് അഭിഷ്ടസിദ്ധിയോടൊപ്പം തൊഴിലും വിവാഹവുമുള്‍പ്പെടെ നേരിടുന്ന തടസ്സങ്ങൾ നീങ്ങുമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസം ഉണ്ട്. തുളസിമാല സമർപ്പിക്കൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. ഇഷ്ടപുഷ്പമായി ചുവന്ന ചെത്തി ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയും, നിവേദ്യമായി പായസം സമർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
