Sree Kunnath Thrikkovil Mahavishnu Temple, located in Manassery, Mukkam, Kozhikode, is an ancient and sacred temple with deep historical significance.
It is situated about a 45-minute drive from Kozhikode town. The main deity worshipped here is Lord Mahavishnu, the Supreme Preserver who sustains and nurtures all living beings in the universe.
At the temple entrance, near the temple pond, visitors are greeted by majestic sculptures of Garuda and a conch (Shankha).
These impressive creations were designed by the renowned national award-winning artist, Shri R.K. Pottassery.
One of the main attractions of this temple is its grand Ratholsavam (Chariot Festival), where the idol of Lord Vishnu is beautifully decorated and carried in a magnificent chariot procession. This festival is extremely popular and draws tens of thousands of people from across the Malabar region, regardless of caste or religion, all coming to witness this awe-inspiring event.
The chariot is mechanically operated and is one of the largest in India, standing about eleven meters tall and adorned with over a hundred intricately carved figures. A notable aspect of this majestic ratham is that it was constructed by Kailasan Edappattu, a key member of the temple committee, along with his brother Biju Edappattu.
മണാശ്ശേരി ശ്രീ കുന്നത്ത് തൃക്കോവിൽ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം
കോഴിക്കോട് മുക്കം മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയിലെ മണാശ്ശേരി പ്രദേശത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയുന്ന ഒരു അതിപ്രാചീന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ കുന്നത്ത് തൃക്കോവിൽ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം. കോഴിക്കോട് ടൗണിൽനിന്നും ഏകദേശം 45 മിനിറ്റ് യാത്ര ചെയ്‌താൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്തിയാകും. സകലചരാചരങ്ങളെയും പരിപാലിച്ചു നിലനിറുത്തുന്ന പരമേശ്വരൻ ആയ ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ.
ക്ഷേത്ര കവാടത്തിൽ കുളത്തിന് സമീപം തന്നെ വലിയ ഗരുഡശില്പവും ശംഖശില്പവും കാണാനാവും.
ദേശീയതലത്തിൽ പുരസ്കൃതനായ പ്രശസ്ത ശിൽപി ശ്രീ ആർ.കെ. പൊട്ടശ്ശേരി രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്ത മനോഹരമായ ഈ ശില്പങ്ങൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ഭക്തിപൂർണ്ണമായ അന്തരീക്ഷം സമ്പുഷ്ടമാക്കുന്നു.ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ആകർഷണമാണ് ഉത്സവകാലത്ത് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ അലങ്കരിച്ച് നടത്തിയ രഥോത്സവം. ഈ ഉത്സവം മലബാർ മേഖലയിലുടനീളം നിന്നുള്ള എല്ലാ ജാതിമതങ്ങളെയും ആകർഷിക്കുകയും വിശ്മയിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന അപൂർവ കാഴ്ചയാണ്. പതിനായിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തർ ഈ മഹാസന്ദർഭത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ എത്തുന്നു.
യന്ത്രസഹായത്താൽ നിയന്ത്രിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ രഥം അദ്വിതീയമാണ്.
ഏകദേശം പതിനൊന്ന് മീറ്റർ ഉയരമുള്ള, നൂറിലധികം വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ കൊത്തിവച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഭക്തിരഥം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ രഥങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. ഈ രഥത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണം നടത്തിയതും ക്ഷേത്ര ഭാരവാഹികളായ കൈലാസൻ എടപ്പട്ടയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ബിജു എടപ്പട്ടയും ചേർന്നാണ് എന്നത് ഈ രഥത്തിന് ഒരു പ്രത്യേകതയും ആകർഷണവും നൽകുന്നു.
