Mathilakam Sree Narasimha Moorthy Temple, located in Thalakkulathur, Kozhikode, is a revered shrine believed to be around 1500 years old.
The main deity worshipped here is Lord Narasimha Moorthy, an incarnation of Vishnu in the form of Lakshmi Narasimha. The temple also houses other deities including Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapathy, Lord Shasta, and Goddess Bhagavathi.
The most significant festival celebrated at the temple is Narasimha Jayanti, observed in the month of Vaishakam (May), commemorating the divine appearance of Lord Narasimha.
The occasion is marked with grand rituals, special poojas, and various devotional activities, drawing large gatherings of devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace.
Another major celebration is the annual Pratishta festival, held on Mithunam 9 (June), which marks the consecration of the temple. This event features elaborate ceremonies and offerings, with devotees uniting in devotion to honor the temple's sacred legacy and the divine presence of Lakshmi Narasimha.
മതിലകം നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം
ശ്രീ മതിലകം ക്ഷേത്രം തലക്കുളത്തൂരിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നതായി 1500 വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുള്ളതായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ചൈതന്യം അഗസ്ത്യമുനിയുടെ കാലം മുതലുള്ളതാണെന്ന് വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. AD 883-ൽ ചേര രാജാവ് തലക്കുളത്തൂരിൽ ശിലാലിഖിതം സ്ഥാപിച്ചതായി ചരിത്ര രേഖകളിൽ പറയപ്പെടുന്നു (എൻ.എം. നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ "മലബാർ പഠനങ്ങൾ സാമൂതിരിനാട്").
ഈ ശിലാലിഖിതം ഇപ്പോഴും ക്ഷേത്രപരിസരത്ത് നിലനില്ക്കുന്നു, എന്നിരുന്നാലും അതിലെ അക്ഷരങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ വ്യക്തമായി വായിക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല. അതിലൂടെ തന്നെ ഏകദേശം 1100 വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സജീവമായ ആരാധനാലയമായിരുന്നതാണ് തെളിയുന്നത്.
കഴിഞ്ഞകാലത്ത് സാമൂതിരി രാജാവിന്റെയും കോട്ടയം രാജാവിന്റെയും പൊതുപ്രശ്‌നങ്ങൾക്ക് തമ്മിൽ ചേർന്ന് ചര്‍ച്ച നടത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള വേദിയായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നുവെന്നത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രപരമായ മഹത്വം വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.
1963-ൽ ക്ഷേത്രം ഏറെ ജീർണിച്ചിരുന്ന സമയത്ത് ഒരു പൊതു കമ്മിറ്റി രൂപീകരിച്ച് ജീർണോദ്ധാര പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ 1969-ലെ മണ്ഡലകാലത്ത് ഉണ്ടായ തീപിടിത്തത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രം മുഴുവൻ നശിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. തുടർന്നുള്ള 12 വർഷക്കാലം ക്ഷേത്രം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
1981 നവംബർ 3-ന്, പ്രദേശത്തെ ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ഒരുമിച്ചുചേർന്നു ശ്രീ മതിലകം ക്ഷേത്രഭരണസമിതിയെ പുനഃസംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. സാമൂതിരിരാജ ട്രസ്റ്റിയംഗമായി ഈ സമിതിയിൽ ചേർന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനായി നിർണായകമായ ഒരു ദിനം 2004 ജൂൺ 23 ബുധനാഴ്‌ചയായി തീർന്നത്. ആ ദിവസം ചിങ്ങം രാശിയിലെ ഒരേ സമയം നടന്നു — നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി, ശിവൻ, ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, ഭഗവതി എന്നിവ.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തന്ത്രി ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ തെക്കിനിയേടത്ത് തരണനല്ലൂർ പത്മനാഭൻ ഉണ്ണി നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാട് ആണ്. ഇന്ന് 15 അംഗങ്ങൾ അടങ്ങുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രഭരണസമിതിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നടത്തിപ്പ് നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത്.
