Nateri Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Moorthi Temple is located in Nateri, Vaidhyarangadi region of Koyilandy taluk in Kozhikode district.
This ancient temple is believed to be over 5000 years old. The presiding deity is Lord Narasimha Moorthi in a fierce (Ugra) form, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi, facing west. In ancient times, the temple was a grand structure with an elaborate outer wall and gopuram (tower).
It was once administered by 42 Namboothiri households, and the temple owned vast acres of land and agricultural property. Unfortunately, most of this property has now been lost. Among the 42 households, the Eranjoli Illam currently holds the "Oorayma" (traditional ownership rights). There is also a managing committee elected to oversee the temple’s activities. The temple traditions here are quite unique compared to other temples.
In addition to the main temple structure, there are sub-shrines located outside the compound wall to the northeast—one for Goddess Bhagavathi and another for a deity referred to as “Vettakkoru Makan” (Son of the Hunt). There is also a self-manifested (Swayambhu) shrine of Lord Ayyappa and a serpent grove (Nagakkavu) situated slightly to the north-east.
The sanctum sanctorum (Sreekovil) is a round, double-tiered structure with an adjoining passage.
The main festival is celebrated during the Thiruvonam day in the Malayalam month of Vrischikam (November–December). Even in its worn condition, the ancient traditional mural paintings can still be seen on the outer walls of the sanctum. These murals are believed to be as old as the temple itself. Wednesdays and Thursdays are considered especially significant days for worship, as Lord Narasimha is an incarnation (Avatar) of Lord Vishnu. Other important festivals celebrated include Ashtami Rohini, Thiruvonam in Vrischikam, Navaratri, Mandala season, Karkidakam (including the Illamnira ritual), Thiruvonam in Chingam, and Vishu.
Since the temple also embodies Shaivite traditions, Mondays are significant for the deity Vettakkaran, while Tuesdays and Fridays are special for Goddess Bhadrakali. The main offerings (Nivedyam) are sweet milk pudding (Palpayasam) in the morning and Panakam (a sweet drink) during the evening twilight (Thriksandhya), which is considered especially auspicious for darshan due to the fierce form of Lord Narasimha.

കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ കൊയിലാണ്ടി താലൂക്കിലെ വൈദ്യരങ്ങാടി, നടേരി ശ്രീ ലക്ഷ്മി നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം. വിശ്വാസം പ്രകാരം, ഇത് ഏകദേശം 5000 വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു മഹാക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. പടിഞ്ഞാറേ ദർശനമുള്ള, ലക്ഷ്മി സമേതനായ ഉഗ്രസ്വരൂപനാരായ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ചരിത്രപരമായി, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സമ്പന്നവും അഗാധഭക്തിയും നിറഞ്ഞതുമായ ഒരു ആരാധനാലയമായിരുന്നു, ചുറ്റുമതിലും ഗോപുരങ്ങളിലും അതിന്റെ ഘോഷം പ്രതിഫലിക്കുന്നു.
42 നമ്പൂതിരി ഇല്ലക്കാരുടെ സംയുക്ത മേൽനോട്ടത്തിലായിരുന്നു ക്ഷേത്രം, അനേകം ഏക്കർ ഭൂസ്വവും കാർഷിക ആസ്തികളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ആസ്തികൾ അന്യാധീനത്തിലായെങ്കിലും, ഈ ഇല്ലക്കാരിൽ എരഞ്ഞോളി ഇല്ലത്തിനാണ് ഇപ്പോഴും ഊരായ്മ സ്ഥാനമുള്ളത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട പരിപാലന സമിതിയുമുണ്ട്.ഇവിടത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രാചാരങ്ങൾ മറ്റുവിടങ്ങളുമായി താരതമ്യപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ വളരെ വ്യത്യസ്തമാണ്. പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു പുറമെ, ചുറ്റുമതിലിന് പുറത്തായി വടക്കുകിഴക്കേ ദിശയിൽ ശ്രീ ഭഗവതിയും, കിഴക്കോട്ട് വേട്ടയ്ക്കൊരു മകനും, അൽപ്പം വടക്കുകിഴക്കായി സ്വയംഭൂവായ അയ്യപ്പനും നാഗക്കാവുമുണ്ട്.
ശ്രീകോവിലിന് പ്രത്യേകതയുണ്ട് — വട്ടം ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ ഇടനാഴി ചേർത്ത് രണ്ടു തട്ടായി നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
വൃശ്ചിക മാസത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം ആണ് പ്രധാന ഉത്സവദിനം. ക്ഷേത്രം ജീർണ്ണിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും പുരാതന ചുമർചിത്രങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോഴും കാണാം. ബുധൻ (അവതാരദിനം)യും വ്യാഴനും പ്രധാനമായി പൂജകൾ നടക്കുന്നു. അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, തിരുവോണം, നവരാത്രി, മണ്ഡലകാലം, കർക്കടകത്തിലെ ഇല്ലംനിറ, ചിങ്ങത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം, വിഷു തുടങ്ങിയ വിശേഷദിനങ്ങൾ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ശൈവ ആചാരപരമായിട്ടുള്ള വേട്ടയ്ക്കരന് തിങ്കളാഴ്‌ചയും ഭദ്രകാളി ഭഗവതിക്ക് ചൊവ്വ, വെള്ളി ദിവസങ്ങളിലും പ്രത്യേകതയുണ്ട്.
പ്രധാന നിവേദ്യങ്ങൾ പാൽപായസവും പാനകവുമാണ് — രാവിലെ പാൽപായസവും, സന്ധ്യാസമയത്ത് പാനകവുമാണ് അർപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ സന്ധ്യാദർശനം വളരെ മഹത്വപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. ഭക്തിയോടെയും മനഃശുദ്ധിയോടെയും നെയ്വിളക്ക് കത്തിച്ചു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ അഭിഷ്ടസിദ്ധിയും, തൊഴിൽ, വിവാഹതടസ്സങ്ങൾ നീങ്ങുമെന്നും വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. തുളസിമാല സമർപ്പിക്കൽ ഒരു പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ്. ചുവന്ന ചെത്തിയാണ് ഇഷ്ടപുഷ്പം, പാൽപായസവുമാണ് പ്രിയ നിവേദ്യം.
