Thiruvachira Sree Krishna Temple, located at Meenchanda in Kozhikode, Kerala, is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna in the divine form of Parthasarathy (the charioteer of Arjuna).
The temple's sanctum sanctorum faces east, inviting devotees into a space of spiritual tranquility.
Alongside the main deity, the temple also houses Upa Devatas (sub-deities), including Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappan, and Goddess Bhagavathi. Among the temple’s annual festivities, the most significant is the celebration of Guruvayur Ekadashi, observed with great devotion. Another major event is Gokulashtami, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna.
A defining feature of the temple is its expansive pond, known as "Thiruvachira," which spans approximately 5 acres in front of the shrine. This serene waterbody enhances the temple’s spiritual ambiance and is well known for its protected fish population, adding to the sacredness and unique charm of the place.
Historically, the temple was initially under the stewardship of Brahmin families before passing into the hands of the Beypore Kovilakam, and eventually, the Samoothiri Kovilakam.
Over time, due to neglect, the temple and its premises fell into disrepair.
The temple’s revival began with the efforts of the Sri Krishna Paripalana Committee, which took over the administration. The committee played a crucial role in restoring the temple, even winning a legal battle to reclaim ownership of the temple pond and the surrounding lands.
Among the many rituals observed here, Vishu Kani Darshanam holds special importance, attracting numerous devotees seeking divine blessings and prosperity for the year ahead.
തിരുവച്ചിറ ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രം
തിരുവച്ചിറ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രം കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ തിരുവച്ചിറയിലാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വിഷ്ണുവിന് സമർപ്പിതമായ ഈ ദിവ്യക്ഷേത്രം 1400 മുതൽ 1500 കാലഘട്ടത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ഇടയിൽ കോഴിക്കോട് ഭരണാധികാരിയായ സാമൂതിരിരാജാവിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചത്.ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, ഭഗവതി എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉപദേവതകളെയും ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട വാർഷികോത്സവം ഗുരുവായൂർ ഏകാദശി ദിനത്തിലാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്.
അതിനുപുറമെ ഗോകുലാഷ്ടമിയും ഇവിടെ വലിയ ആഘോഷങ്ങളോടെയാണ് ആചരിക്കുന്നത്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് മുന്നിലായി ഏകദേശം അഞ്ച് ഏക്കർ വിസ്തീർണ്ണത്തിൽ വ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വലിയ കുളം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് പ്രത്യേകത നൽകുന്നു. "തിരുവച്ചിറ" എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ കുളം പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്.ചരിത്ര രേഖകളനുസരിച്ച് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ആദ്യം ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ കൈവശത്തിലായിരുന്നു.
പിന്നീട് ഇത് ബേപ്പൂർ കോവിലകത്തെ കീഴിൽ എത്തി. പിന്നീട് വീണ്ടും ഉടമസ്ഥത മാറ്റം സംഭവിച്ച് സാമൂതിരി കോവിലകം ക്ഷേത്രം നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനായി. പിന്നീട് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണപരിപാലന കമ്മിറ്റി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഏറ്റെടുത്തു.ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വിഷുക്കണി ദർശനം വളരെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതും വിശിഷ്ടവുമായ അനുഭവമാണ്.
