Thrikkudamanna Shiva Temple is an ancient temple located in Mukkam, in the Kozhikode district of Kerala.
The temple is uniquely situated in the middle of a river, with water flowing on all four sides. During the monsoon season, the temple becomes almost submerged, and devotees can only reach it by boat.
The presiding deity is Lord Shiva, enshrined in the form of a Swayambhoo Lingam (self-manifested Lingam), which remains submerged during the rainy season. Devotees offer prayers from the western side during this time.
The temple follows a simple tradition with no elaborate decorations or carvings. Unlike other temples, it does not have compound walls, a namaskara mandapam, or a chuttambalam (courtyard). It stands as a humble and traditional shrine. The most important festival celebrated here is Shivaratri in the month of Kumbham (February–March), which is observed with great fervor. On this day, it transforms into a grand national festival for the people of Mukkam.
Thousands of devotees, from all walks of life and from various religious backgrounds, visit the temple for darshan and to offer pitru tarpanam (rituals for ancestors). The crowd and devotional atmosphere are said to resemble the famous celebrations at Aluva Manappuram.
During the monsoon season, special offerings such as kanji (rice porridge) and puzhukku (a mashed vegetable dish) are made as part of traditional vows. For those seeking children, a special offering of 101 measures of puffed rice (malar) is made.
Once a ruined shrine, the temple was located in the ancient village of Puzhavay. It was originally a family temple of the Puzhavay Nair clan and was later taken over by the Zamorin (Samuthiri), according to elders. The temple now stands beautifully on the banks of the Eranjipuzha River, continuing its legacy as a spiritual refuge for all.
തൃക്കുടമണ്ണ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം
കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ മുക്കത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു അതിപുരാതനമായ പൗരാണിക ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് തൃക്കുടമണ്ണ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം. ഇരുവഞ്ഞിപ്പുഴയുടെ തീരത്തും, പുഴയുടെ നടുവിലുമായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. നാലു ദിശകളിലും പുഴ ചുറ്റിനിലകൊള്ളുന്നതാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ വലിയ പ്രത്യേകത. മഴക്കാലത്ത് പുഴയുടെ വെള്ളം ഉയരുന്നതിനാൽ, ക്ഷേത്രം വെള്ളത്തിനടിയിലാകാറുണ്ട്.പ്രധാന ദേവതയായി ശ്രീ പരമശിവൻ സ്വയംഭൂലിംഗരൂപത്തിലാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.
മഴക്കാലത്ത് ഈ ലിംഗം വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു, അതിനാൽ ദർശനം പടിഞ്ഞാറുനിന്ന് മാത്രമേ സാധിക്കുകയുള്ളു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ദിവസേന രണ്ട് പ്രഭാത പൂജകൾ മാത്രം നടത്തി വരുന്നു.
തൃക്കുടമണ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മറ്റു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലുപോലെ അതിമനോഹരമായ കൊത്തുപണികളും ശില്പകലകളും ഇല്ല. മതിൽക്കെട്ടോ നമസ്കാരമണ്ഡപമോ ചുറ്റമ്പലമോ ഇല്ലാതെ, ഒരു ലളിതമായ അമ്പലമെന്നതിലാണിത്. എന്നാൽ അതിന്‍റെ ആത്മീയതയും പൗരാണികതയും അതിൽക്കുറച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മഹാശിവരാത്രി ഉത്സവം ഇവിടെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടത്. അന്ന് ഇവിടം ദേശിയോത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
കേരളത്തിലെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തർ ദർശനത്തിനും പിതൃതർപ്പണത്തിനുമായി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തുന്നു. ആലുവ മണപ്പുറത്തെ മഹാശിവരാത്രിയുടെ തിരക്കിനോട് തുല്യമായ ഭക്തജനസാന്നിധ്യമാണ് ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഇവിടെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇഷ്ടസന്താനത്തിന് വേണ്ടി 101 നാഴി മലർ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന നേർച്ചയും ഇവിടെ വിശേഷപ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. ആത്മീയതയും പ്രകൃതിസൗന്ദര്യവും ഒരുപോലെ കൈകൊള്ളുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, എല്ലാ മതവിഭാഗങ്ങളിലെയും ആളുകൾക്ക് അഭയകേന്ദ്രമായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. തീർച്ചയായും സന്ദർശിക്കേണ്ട ഒരു അതിമനോഹരമായ തീർത്ഥക്ഷേത്രമാണ് തൃക്കുടമണ്ണ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം.
