Vazhenkada Sree Narasimha Moorthy Temple, located in the Malappuram district of Kerala.
The temple is situated approximately 15 km east of Perinthalmanna, along the Thootha–Vettathur road, and about 2 km from Thootha on the Cherpulassery–Perinthalmanna state highway.
The main deity worshipped here is Lord Narasimha, the man-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple also houses the presence of Goddess Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of learning and the arts. According to legend, the idol (murti) worshipped here once belonged to Lord Hanuman, who had worshipped it in a sacred forest known as Kadalivanam.
The current temple structure is believed to have been established in the 14th century.The idol of Lord Narasimha is sculpted from black granite (Krishna Shila) and depicts him holding a conch (shankha), discus (chakra), mace (gada), and lotus (padma). The idol, though damaged, has been repaired and is held together using a golaka. The deity is worshipped in a peaceful form (Shantha Bhava), symbolizing Narasimha blessing the young devotee Prahlada.
In addition to Lord Narasimha, the temple also houses sub-shrines for Goddess Durga (in a rare Shivling form), Lord Ganapati, and Lord Sastha. Hanuman is also worshipped here, although he does not have a separate idol and is spiritually present within the sanctum of Lord Ganapati.
It is widely believed that children find relief from stammering due to the blessing of Narasimha upon child Prahlada, the divine presence of Saraswati, and the unseen influence of Hanuman. As part of traditional offerings, children suffering from speech difficulties offer Kadali pazham (a special variety of banana).
Devotees whose children are cured often offer small silver or gold tongue replicas in gratitude—some do so even in anticipation of healing.
Another significant offering is Avil Nivedyam (flattened rice) to Lord Hanuman. Saraswathi Ghrutham (a special medicinal ghee) is given to children to enhance their learning and intellect. Parents also perform Bhagyasooktham Pushpanjali in their children's names to invoke blessings for intelligence and interest in studies.
On Vijayadashami, celebrated as Vidyarambham in Kerala, thousands of children are initiated into the world of learning at this temple. Over the years, many children with speech and learning challenges have reportedly found relief and progress after offering prayers here.
വാഴേങ്കട നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം
വഴേങ്കട ശ്രീ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം, കേരളത്തിലെ മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാന പൗരാണിക ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. പെരിന്തൽമണ്ണയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 15 കിലോമീറ്റർ കിഴക്കായി തൂത–വെട്ടത്തൂർ റോഡിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, ചെർപുളശ്ശേരി–പെരിന്തൽമണ്ണ സംസ്ഥാനപാതയിൽ തൂതയിൽ നിന്ന് 2 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരത്തിലാണു സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ശ്രീ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയാണ് — വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ മനുഷ്യസിംഹാവതാരമായ നരസിംഹൻ. കൂടാതെ, വിദ്യയും കലകളും പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്ന വിദ്യാദേവതയായ ദേവി സരസ്വതിയുടെയും സാന്നിധ്യം ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ട്. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രം 14-ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ പുനഃസ്ഥാപിച്ചതായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.
കൃഷ്ണശിലയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നരസിംഹവിഗ്രഹം ശംഖം, ചക്രം, ഗദ, പദ്മം എന്നിവ കയ്യിൽ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ആകൃതിയിലാണ്. വിഗ്രഹം പഴയതായി ചില ഭാഗങ്ങൾ കേടായതോടെയും ഗോളക ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പുനരുദ്ധരിച്ചതുമാണ്. ഭക്ത പ്രഹ്ലാദനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന ശാന്തഭാവത്തിലുള്ള നരസിംഹനെയാണ് ഇവിടെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്.
ദേവി ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗയെ ശിവലിംഗാകൃതിയിലാണു ഇവിടെ അപൂർവമായി പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കൂടാതെ ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ് എന്നിവർക്കും ഉപദേവതാ സാന്നിധ്യം ഉണ്ട്. ഹനുമാനെയും ഇവിടെയിൽ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുള്ളത് പ്രത്യേകം പ്രതിഷ്ഠയില്ല; ഗണപതിയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ആത്മീയ സാന്നിധ്യമായാണ് ഹനുമാനെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്.
