Thirukunnappullikavu Bhagavathy Temple, located in Ezhakkad in Palakkad district, is believed by historians and locals to be over 1500 years old.
Situated about 16 km west of Palakkad town on the Palakkad–Cherpulassery State Highway, this popular temple is dedicated to Goddess Devi, whose idol faces north. The temple’s uniqueness lies in its community-centered worship; it has no individual ownership or wealth, and everything seen today—from the structure to the festivals—has been built and maintained through the selfless devotion and contributions of thousands of devotees from various castes and religions residing between the Kalladikodan hills in the north and the Mucchiri hills in the south.
The temple belongs to Olappamanna Mana and is jointly administered by the Mana and a committee of local residents. Major festivals include Kummatti in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February–March) and Vishu Vela in Medam (April–May). Other important observances are the Trikala Pooja, Ramayana Month celebrations, and Navaham during Karkidakam (July–August), as well as the Chuttuvilakku (lamp lighting) and grand Thalappoli in Vrischikam (November–December).
The temple’s flag-hoisting ceremony is held on January (Makaram 14–15), followed by the traditional Pavakkoothu (shadow puppetry) from Makaram 16 onwards, and culminates with the vibrant Kummatti and Kalampattu in Kumbham—all celebrated each year with growing grandeur, driven by the local community's deep devotion and enthusiasm. The nearby Chambai Shiva Temple of the historical Kongad Swaroopam also adds to the spiritual heritage of the region.

പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ എഴക്കാട് തിരുകുന്നപ്പുള്ളിക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം ഏകദേശം 1500 വർഷത്തോളം പഴക്കമുള്ളതാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.പാലക്കാട്–ചെർപ്പുളശ്ശേരി സംസ്ഥാന പാതയിൽ പാലക്കാട് നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 16 കിലോമീറ്റർ പടിഞ്ഞാറായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു ജനകീയ ആരാധനാകേന്ദ്രമാണ്. വടക്ക് കല്ലടിക്കോടൻ മല മുതൽ തെക്ക് മുച്ചീരി മല വരെ വ്യാപിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്ന പതിനെട്ടര ദേശങ്ങളിലായുള്ള ജാതിമതഭേദമില്ലാത്ത ജനസഹസ്രങ്ങളുടെ നിർലോഭമായ ആരാധനയും സഹകരണവുമാണ് ഭഗവതിക്ക് അര്പണിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
ഭഗവതിക്ക് പ്രത്യേകമായി വസ്തുവഹങ്ങളോ ധനസമ്പത്തുകളോ ഇല്ല; ഭക്തജനങ്ങളുടെ സഹകരണത്തിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ഇന്നത്തെ രൂപം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഭഗവതി ദേവിയാണ്, ഉത്തരദിശയിൽ ദർശനമാണുള്ളത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഒളപ്പമണ്ണ മാനയ്ക്ക് കീഴിലായുള്ളതും, ഗ്രാമസഭയുടെയും മാനയുടെയും ചേർന്നൊരു സമിതിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം നടത്തിപ്പിലേക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ (ഫെബ്രുവരി–മാർച്ച്) കുമ്മാട്ടിയും മേടമാസത്തിലെ (ഏപ്രിൽ–മേയ്) വിഷുവേലയും ആകുന്നു.
സമീപത്താണ് കൊങ്ങാട് സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റേതായ ചമ്പൈ ശിവക്ഷേത്രവും സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. അതിനുപുറമേ കർക്കിടകമാസത്തിൽ തൃകാലപൂജ, രാമായണമാസാചരണം, നവാഹം എന്നിവയും, വൃശ്ചികത്തിൽ ചുറ്റുവിളക്കും വിളക്കവസാന താലപ്പൊലിയും, മകരം 14,15 തിയതികളിൽ ധ്വജപ്രതിഷ്ഠയും, മകരം 16 മുതൽ പാവകൂത്തും കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ കുമ്മാട്ടിയും കളംപാട്ടും പാട്ടവസാന താലപ്പൊലിയും തുടങ്ങി കൊല്ലംതോറും നാട്ടുകാരുടെ ഉത്സാഹത്തോടെ ആവേശത്തോടെ ഭംഗിയായി ആചരിച്ചുവരുന്നു.
