Sree Kodikkattu Bhagavathi Temple, located in Vadakkanchery in the Palakkad district, is an ancient temple dedicated to the Goddess Devi.
Sree Kodikkattu Bhagavathi Temple can be reached by traveling northeast along the Nayarthara road from the Mandamaidani, situated at the heart of Vadakkancheri town.
The temple was established by the Puzhakkalidam family, a branch of the royal lineage of Palakkad. The deity, once known as "Kudakattivanna Devi" (the goddess who arrived with an umbrella), later came to be worshipped as Kodikkattu Bhagavathi.
The temple is believed to be around 600 years old, and even today, its administrative responsibilities lie with the eldest member of the Puzhakkalidam family.
The main deity, facing east, is Vaishnavi-Bhadrakali. To the southwest of the temple is a shrine for Dharmasastha, and at the northeastern corner, there is a Nagaprathishta (serpent deity). Major festivals and rituals at the temple include the Karthika Utsavam, the Makara Chovva festival (held on the first Tuesday of the Malayalam month of Makaram), the Darika Vadham Paattu (from Vrischikam 1 to Dhanu 11), and the Navaratri festival during the month of Kanni.
ശ്രീ കൊടിക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ വടക്കഞ്ചേരിയിലായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ശ്രീ കൊടിക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു പുരാതന ദേവീക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. വടക്കഞ്ചേരി ടൗണിലെ മന്ദമൈദാനിയിൽ നിന്ന് വടക്കുകിഴക്കോട്ടുള്ള നായർത്തറ റോഡിലൂടെ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, ആധ്യാത്മികമാക്കത്താൽ സമൃദ്ധമാണ്.
പാലക്കാട് രാജവംശത്തിലെ ശാഖയായ പുഴയ്ക്കലിടം തറവാട്ട് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥാപിച്ചതായാണ് ചരിത്രം പറയുന്നത്. ആദ്യം "കുടകാട്ടിവന്ന ദേവി" എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന പ്രതിഷ്ഠയ്ക്ക് പിന്നീട് "കൊടിക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതി" എന്നറിയപ്പെടാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
ശതമാനങ്ങളായി പുഴയ്ക്കലിടം തറവാട്ടിലെ മുതിർന്ന കാരണവരാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭരണാധികാരി.
ഇവിടെ കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി വൈഷ്ണവി ഭാവത്തിൽ ഭദ്രകാളിയാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് ധർമ്മശാസ്താവിനും പുറത്തെ കാവായുള്ള ഭദ്രകാളിക്കുമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും, വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ കോണിൽ നാഗപ്രതിഷ്ഠയും കാണാം.പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങളിൽ കാർത്തികം മാസത്തിലെ മകര ചൊവ്വ ഉത്സവം, വൃശ്ചിക 1 മുതൽ ധനു 11 വരെ നടക്കുന്ന ദാരിക വധം പാട്ട്, കന്നിമാസത്തിലെ നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു അതുല്യമായ ആധ്യാത്മിക അനുഭവമാണ് നൽകുന്നത്.
