Kottakkakam Anjaneya Temple is located within the Palakkad Fort premises, at Kenathuparambu – Kunnathurmedu in Palakkad town, Kerala.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, also known as Anjaneya. One of the major annual events at the temple is the 9-day Rama Navami festival, held during the Malayalam month of Meenam.
The idol (murti) of Bhakta Anjaneya is carved on the inner side of the eastern entrance wall of the fort.
Known locally as "Kote Anjaneya," the idol faces south, but the gaze of Hanuman is turned toward the west. This half-sculpted (ardha-shilpa) image is about seventeen inches tall. Hanuman is depicted standing with a 'gada' (mace) held between his palms in the Anjali Hasta (folded hands) posture. His tail is raised and curved, with a small bell attached to its tip. He stands with his right leg forward and the left leg slightly raised, ready to move.
Saturdays and Tuesdays are considered the most auspicious days at the temple. Devotees commonly offer ghee lamps and Vettila mala (garland of betel leaves). The main prasadam served is uzhunnu vada and payasam.
During the Rama Navami festival, a variety of Vaishnava rituals and special pujas are performed. The festival concludes on Navami day and features annadanam (free food distribution), lighting of ghee lamps, temple art performances, and melam (traditional percussion ensemble).
കോട്ട ആഞ്ജനേയ ക്ഷേത്രം പാലക്കാട് നഗരമധ്യത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ചരിത്രപ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള കോട്ടയാണ് ടിപ്പു സുൽത്താൻ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ച പാലക്കാട് കോട്ട. മൈസൂർ രാജാവായ ഹൈദർ അലി 1766-ൽ ഈ കോട്ട പണിതതായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ ഇത് കയ്യേറി. വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം കോട്ട പുനരുദ്ധരിച്ചു. അനേകം വീരകഥകൾ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കോട്ട ഇന്ന് ഭാരത പുരാവസ്തു വകുപ്പ് സംരക്ഷിക്കുകയും പരിപാലിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
ഈ കോട്ടയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന അത്ര വലിയതല്ലാത്ത ഒരു ഹനുമാൻ ക്ഷേത്രം ഭക്തജനങ്ങളിൽ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വളരെ ചെറിയ വിഗ്രഹമാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കിഴക്കോട്ടാണ് ദർശനദിക്കു. ഉപദേവതയായി ഗണപതിയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. വടമാല, വെറ്റിലമാല, നെയ് വിളക്ക് എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ.ഹനുമാൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ദർശനം നടത്തി യഥാവിധി വഴിപാടുകൾ സമർപ്പിച്ചാൽ ശത്രുദോഷങ്ങൾ അകലെക്കളയുകയും ശനിദോഷങ്ങൾ, ഏഴരശനി, കണ്ടകശനി, അഷ്ടമശനി തുടങ്ങിയ ദോഷങ്ങൾ കുറയുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്ന വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. ഹനുമാൻ സ്വാമിക്ക് ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട വഴിപാടായി കണക്കാക്കുന്നത് വെറ്റിലമാല സമർപ്പിക്കുകയാണു.
ഇതിന്റെ പിറകെ ഒരു ഐതിഹ്യമുണ്ട് — ശ്രീരാമന്റെ വിജയം ആദ്യം സീതാദേവിയോട് അറിയിച്ചത് ഹനുമാനായിരുന്നു. ആ സന്തോഷത്തിൽ സീതാവിൽപ്പറഞ്ഞു വെറ്റില കൊണ്ട് ഹാരമാക്കി ഹനുമാനെ അണിയിച്ചുവെന്നാണ് കഥ.ഹനുമാനെ വെറ്റിലമാല സമർപ്പിച്ച് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ സർവകാര്യവിജയം, ഐശ്വര്യം എന്നിവ ലഭിക്കും. നെയ് വിളക്ക് സമർപ്പിച്ചാൽ രോഗദുരിതങ്ങൾ കുറയും; തുളസിമാല സമർപ്പണവും ഉത്തമമാണ്. കദളിപ്പഴം നിവേദ്യമായി സമർപ്പിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.
ഹനുമാന്റെ ജന്മനക്ഷത്രമായ മൂലം ദിവസത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രദർശനം നടത്തുന്നത് അത്യന്തം ഫലപ്രദമായും കണക്കാക്കുന്നു. ചൊവ്വ, വ്യാഴം, ശനി ദിവസങ്ങൾ ഹനുമാൻ ഭക്തിക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പ്രസക്തിയുള്ളവയാണ്.ഉദ്യോഗം നേടാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടും ലഭിക്കാത്തവർ, വായുപുത്രനായ ഹനുമാനെ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നത് ഉത്തമഫലം നൽകുമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്.
