Sree Kunnamthuli Mahavishnu Temple is a revered Mahavishnu temple located on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River in Palakkad district, just about 4 kilometers away from Ottapalam, in a place called Kaniyampuram.
The main deity here is Lord Mahavishnu, enshrined in a majestic four-armed form sculpted from Krishna Shila (black stone), facing east as is common in traditional temple architecture.
Lord Vishnu is depicted with a serene blue complexion and four arms, holding the symbolic items: the conch (shankha), discus (chakra), mace (gada), and lotus (padma).
He is often visualized resting on the cosmic serpent Shesha.
The temple hosts various religious rituals and festivals throughout the year, drawing devotees from the local community and beyond, who come seeking the divine grace and blessings of Lord Vishnu. One of the significant festivals celebrated here is the Installation Day, observed in the Malayalam month of Edavam. This festival commemorates the anniversary of the consecration of the deity in the sanctum sanctorum, marking the divine presence of Lord Vishnu in the temple.
ശ്രീ കുന്നംതുളി മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം
പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ ഭാരതപുഴയുടെ തീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ കുന്നംതുളി മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം. ഒറ്റപ്പാലത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വെറും 4 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള കണ്ണിയംപുറം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്താണ് ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.
ഇവിടെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ കൃഷ്ണശിലയിൽ നിർമിച്ച ചതുർബാഹുവായ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവാണ്. പതിവായി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ കാണുന്ന രീതിയിൽ കിഴക്ക് ദർശനത്തോടെയാണ് ദേവപ്രതിഷ്ഠ ചെയ്തത്.ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനെ ശംഖ് (ശങ്ക്), ചക്രം, ഗദ, പദ്മം എന്നിവ കൈവശം വെച്ച നാല് കൈകളോടുകൂടിയ രൂപത്തിലുമാണ് ദർശിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നത്.
വർഷംതോറും നിരവധി ആചാരങ്ങളും ഉത്സവങ്ങളുമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്, സ്ഥലത്തെ ഭക്തസമൂഹത്തിലും വിദൂരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരിലുമുണ്ടാകുന്ന ആകർഷണത്തിലൂടെ ദൈവാനുഭൂതി തേടിയെത്തുന്നവർക്കെല്ലാം ആശീർവാദം ലഭിക്കുന്നതാണ്.മലയാള മാസമായ ഇടവത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനം ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
