Sree Kirathamoorthy Temple is located in Muthukurussi, under the Mannarkkad Taluk of Palakkad district.
The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the fierce form of Kirathamoorthy. Sub-deities in the temple include Goddess Parvathi, Lord Ganapathi, Goddess Bhagavathi, and Lord Ayyappa.
The primary offering at this temple is Jaladhara (continuous water abhishekam), which is believed to be especially effective in curing head-related ailments.
The most important festival here is Shivaratri, observed in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February–March).
The temple's Thanthri (chief priest) is currently Azhakathu Shasthrasharman Namboothiri. One of the prominent rituals performed here is Vettekkaran Paattu, which is a traditional observance. Lord Kirathamoorthy is considered a fierce, hunter-like aspect of Lord Shiva.
മുതുകുറുശ്ശി ശ്രീകിരാതമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം
പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ മണ്ണാർക്കാട് താലൂക്കിൽ ഉള്ള മുതുകുറുശ്ശിയിലാണ് ശ്രീ കിരാതമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ കിരാതമൂർത്തിയായ ശിവനാണ് — അഥവാ കാട്ടാളഭാവമുള്ള ശിവൻറെ രൂപം. ഉപദേവന്മാരായി പാർവതി, ഗണപതി, ഭഗവതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ എന്നിവരും ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിതരാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടായ ജലധാരയ്ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പ്രസിദ്ധിയുണ്ട്.
ശിരോരോഗങ്ങൾ മാറ്റുന്നതിന് ഈ വഴിപാട് വളരെ ഫലപ്രദമാണെന്നു വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മഹാശിവരാത്രിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവ ദിനം. നിലവിൽ അഴകത്ത് ശാസ്ത്രശർമ്മൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രതന്ത്രി. ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്ന “വേട്ടേക്കരൻ പാട്ട്” എന്നത് ഒരു ആചാരപരമായ അനുഷ്ഠാനമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
