Sree Panankurussi Bhaga‌vathy Temple Chethallur Palakkad

Formerly part of the old Valluvanad Taluk, the area is culturally close to the nearby villages of Vellinezhi and Sreekrishnapuram. Chethallur is also believed to be the birthplace of Naranath Bhranthan, a legendary eccentric figure from Kerala folklore.

His ancestral home and the famous rock he is said to have rolled uphill still remain in the village, along with some of his descendants. The main temple in Chethallur is the Sree Panamkurussi Bhagavathy Temple. It was established by seven prominent Arya Vysya families: Musaliyath, Ambalath, Ayichath, Karippuman Veedu, Pothirath, Adiyath, and Koothan Veedu.

Annual Pooram festival held here is very famous, attracting thousands of devotees from far and wide. The grand procession during the festival features nearly forty elephants. Additionally, for about six months every year, traditional Kalam Pattu (ritualistic songs) are performed in devotion to the Goddess.

പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ മണ്ണാർക്കാട് താലൂക്കിൽ തച്ചനാട്ടുകര പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ ഒരു ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ ഗ്രാമമാണ് ചെത്തല്ലൂർ. പഴയ വള്ളുവനാട് താലൂക്കിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ പ്രദേശം സാംസ്കാരികമായി വെള്ളിനേഴിയും ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണപുരവും ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള സമീപഗ്രാമങ്ങളുമായി അടുപ്പമുള്ളതും വൈഭവശാലിയുമാണ്. പ്രസിദ്ധമായ തന്ത്രജ്ഞനും ദാർശനികനുമായ നാറാണത്ത് ഭ്രാന്തൻ ജന്മമെടുത്ത സ്ഥലം എന്നതിനാൽ ചെത്തല്ലൂർ ഐതിഹാസികമായും പ്രസിദ്ധിയാർജ്ജിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

നാറാണത്ത് ഭ്രാന്തൻറെ മനയും അദ്ദേഹം ഉരുട്ടിക്കയറ്റിയതായി വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന കല്ലും ഇന്നും ഇവിടെ കാണാം. ഭ്രാന്തൻറെ വംശപരമ്പരക്കാർ ഇപ്പോഴും ഈ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്.ചെത്തല്ലൂരിലെ പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രം ശ്രീ പനങ്കുറിശ്ശി ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. ആര്യവൈശ്യ സമുദായത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട മുസലിയാത്ത്, അമ്പലത്ത്, ആയിച്ചത്ത്, കരിപ്പുമാൻ വീട്, പൊത്തിരത്ത്, അടിയത്ത്, കൂത്തൻ വീട് എന്നീ ഏഴ് കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ചേർന്ന് സ്ഥാപിച്ച ദേവാലയമാണിത്.

പ്രതി വർഷം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പൂരാഘോഷം വളരെ വിഖ്യാതമാണ്. നാല്പതോളം ആനകളുടെ പങ്കെടുക്കലോടെ നടക്കുന്ന ആധുനിക എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പുകൾ ദൂരദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ആയിരക്കണക്കിനാളുകളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നു. വർഷത്തിൽ ആറ് മാസക്കാലം ഭഗവതിക്ക് കളംപാട്ട് പോലെയുള്ള പരമ്പരാഗത ആചാരങ്ങളും ഇവിടെ നടത്തി വരുന്നുണ്ട്.
