One of the ancient Shiva temples believed to have been consecrated by Sage Khara more than a thousand years ago is the Thalayennakadu Shiva Temple, located in Thanikunnu amsham of the old Valluvanad taluk.

തലയെണ്ണക്കാട് ശിവക്ഷേത്രം
ഏകദേശം ആയിരം വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് ഖരമുനിയാൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടതെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പുരാതന ശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് പഴയ വള്ളുവനാട്ട് താലൂക്കിലുള്ള താനിക്കുന്ന് അംശത്തിലെ തലയെണ്ണക്കാട് ശിവക്ഷേത്രം. വട്ടശ്രീക്കോവയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം അതിന്റെ സമൃദ്ധമായ ചരിത്രവും പുരാതനത്വവും വിളിച്ചോതുന്നു.
ശ്രീപാർവതീസങ്കൽപത്തിൽ കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി ഇരിക്കുന്ന മഹാദേവന്റെ തിരുമുന്നിൽ നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന തീർത്ഥക്കുളം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു മുന്നിലായി 1106-ൽ സ്വയംഭാവായി ഉദിച്ച അരയാൽവൃക്ഷവും ഇവിടത്തെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഊരായ്മ ലാവഴി തറവാട്ടുകാരുടേതാണ്.
