Sree Thirupuraikkal Bhagavathy Temple, situated in Puthur, Palakkad, is renowned for its grand annual festival, Puthur Vela.
The celebrations commence with Kodiyettam (ceremonial flag hoisting) on the first Friday of the Malayalam month of Meenam (mid-March to mid-April), and conclude with the vibrant Thalapoli procession on the last Friday of the same month.
One of the most captivating and artistic highlights of Puthur Vela is the traditional Tholpavakoothu or shadow puppetry performance, an ancient temple art form especially popular in Bhagavathy temples across Palakkad and nearby areas.
Another major attraction of the festival is the 10-day Puthur Sree Thirupuraikal Music and Dance Festival, which features performances by acclaimed musicians and dancers from all over the country, adding cultural richness to the spiritual fervor.

പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിൽ പുത്തൂർ – കല്ലേപ്പുള്ളി റോഡിനോട് ചേർന്ന വെങ്കിടേശപുരം കോളനിയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ആചാരപൂർണവും ചരിത്രപ്രാധാന്യവും ഉള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ തിരുപുരയ്‌ക്കൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം.

പുതൂര്‍വേലയും അതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി സംഘടിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന തോല്‍പ്പാവക്കൂത്തും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണങ്ങളാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ കൂത്തുമാടത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നിശ്ചിത ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ പ്രകടനം നടത്തുന്ന തോല്‍പ്പാവക്കൂത്ത് കേരളത്തിലെ ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ആചാരപൂർവം നടപ്പിലാക്കിയിരുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രകലകളിലൊന്നാണ്.
മീനമാസത്തിലെ ആദ്യ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന പുത്തൂർ വേല ആ മാസത്തെ അവസാന വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച താലപ്പൊലിപൊലിമയോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ഭക്തിസാന്ദ്രമായ ഈ ഉത്സവകാലം കലാസാംസ്‌ക്കാരിക സമൃദ്ധിയാൽ നന്മ നിറയ്ക്കുന്നു.
