Kottayil Sree Thiruvalayanad Bhagavathy Temple Pulappatta Palakkad

This ancient Swaroopam is renowned for the Kottayil Thiruvalayanad Bhagavathy Temple (also known as Kottayil Ambalam), the family’s presiding deity. The temple complex is a striking sight, featuring century-old structures including traditional Nalukettu and Ettukettu-style mansions, majestic “Pathaayapura” (granaries), grand stone steps, and a large temple pond. The temple is widely known for its divine feminine power and is open daily for morning and evening pujas. The main deity is Goddess Bhagavathy.

The temple also houses sub-deities such as Kiratha Moorthi, serpent deities (Nagangal), Vinayakan, and Ganapathy. An annual festival is celebrated with devotion and grandeur. Kuthiravattam Swaroopam is a royal clan historically associated with the Nair community. They have played a vital role in the cultural and political heritage of the region. Rooted in Kerala’s traditional matrilineal system, the Kuthiravattam family is also deeply connected to various temples and holds a distinguished place in the artistic and literary traditions of Kerala.

തിരുവളയനാട്ട് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം

കുതിരവട്ടം സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റെ പരദേവതയായ തിരുവളയനാട്ട് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്.ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പുരാതന നാലുകെട്ട്, എട്ടുകെട്ട്, ഭീമൻ പത്തായ പുരകൾ, വലിയ കരിങ്കൽ പടികൾ, വലിയ കുളങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയുടെ ഭംഗിയോടെ നിരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കുതിരവട്ടം സ്വരൂപം, സാമൂതിരി സാമന്തന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുമ്പോൾ, ഇവരുടെ ഉത്ഭവം കോഴിക്കോട് കുതിരവട്ടത്താണ്. ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ, കുതിരവട്ടം എന്ന പേരും ഇവരുടെ കുടുംബത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചു.

ഏകദേശം ആറു സെഞ്ചുറി മുമ്പ്, കുതിരവട്ടം സ്വരൂപക്കാർ പാലക്കാട് വരുന്നുണ്ട്. കേരളം മുഴുവനും കീഴടക്കാൻ സാമൂതിരി ഇറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ, പാലക്കാട് കീഴടക്കാനായി കുതിരവട്ടം സ്വരൂപത്തിലെ തങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രനായ "കുതിരവട്ടം നായർ" എന്ന സ്ഥാനം പൊരുതിയ പടനായകനെയും, രണ്ടായിരം വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള പടങ്ങൾക്കൊപ്പം, പാലക്കാട്ടേക്ക് അയച്ചു. 15-ാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിലാണ് ഈ കാലഘട്ടം.

അവരാണ് കൊടുവായൂർ, കൊല്ലംകോട്, മങ്കര, നെന്മാറ തുടങ്ങി 23 ദേശങ്ങൾ കീഴടക്കി, ഭരണം നിലനിർത്തി. അവരുടെ ഭരണകേന്ദ്രം കൊടുവായൂർ ആയിരുന്നു, കൂടാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ വസതിയായി പുലാപ്പറ്റയിൽ എത്തിച്ചു. പുലാപ്പറ്റയുടെ ഐശ്വര്യമായ തിരുവളയനാട്ട് ഭഗവതി (കോട്ടയിൽ ഭഗവതി) ക്ഷേത്രം ഇന്നും സുവർണ്ണ ശോഭയാൽ വിളങ്ങി നില്ക്കുന്നു. കുതിരവട്ടം സ്വരൂപക്കാർ അതിന്റെ പരിപാലനം ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവ്വം നടത്തുന്നു.
